Has David Miller lost his mind?

Perhaps.

Is he going to run? Is he gonna go?

Please, God, make it the latter, and not the former.

Doing some interviews on this breaking story right now!

Because he might win. Because people hate him way less than six months ago. Because he is the Left’s only hope in TO. Because all the obvious successors (Tory, Pinball) have withdrawn and he’s running against midgets (other than furious George). Funny: was talking with our political types they other day and they were saying he withdrew too soon. Maybe Miller thinks the same.

    Big City:

You are dead-on. But if he runs, Miller will still have a problem explaining why he wanted out so badly. Indeed, the current field of candidates have failed to inspire. In addition, the ubiquitous outsourcing talk is disturbing. This could play into Miller’s hands.

  3. bigcitylib says:

Of course another possibility (my wife’s theory) is he wants to bail out now before a VERY bad news budget.

  4. scanner says:

Really – you want one of the twerps running to run the city? Still, I think David has spoiled his image enough that it would be a tough campaign even against the likes of Rossi and Smitherman. And the hope for the left is Joey Pants?
I’m betting he’s leaving and taking a job with the Clinton Foundation.
Looks like we wont have a (real) Mayor for the next term

  5. Andy says:

If Miller runs he’ll win. The garbage strike is ancient history and Smitherman, when you get down to it, is a bully and enforcer who lacks any genuine appeal. Miller has an air of integrity and sincerity about him that Smitherman can’t fake. Tory may have been able to beat Miller but I don’t think Smitherman could when the chips are down.

  6. Andy says:

Kinsella in the Sun: “If Miller is running again, Kinsella said the electoral blow-back would be “tremendous.””

Um, you mean like it was for Trudeau in 1980? 🙂

  7. scanner says:

    Oh hahahah I am ROTFLMAO
Suckered us all AND threw a wrench at Rossi and Smitherman
    The man is NASTY!

  8. scanner says:

BTW Warren – having seen some of their campaign, I’m starting to miss Tory. At least he was straightforward.

  9. Andy says:

Still, all the fevered speculation about the viability of a Miller candidacy, and excitement about it by a lot of people who see it as the only way to stop Smitherman, may give Miller reason to pause and think over the next few days. It’s not too late for Miller to jump back in the race but time is running out. If not Miller then we should be hearing from Shelley Carroll by the end of the month.

  10. Mike says:

Thank God he didn’t jump back in. Comrade Miller and his fellow travellers have done more than enough damage.
The unfortunate thing is that we’re likely to end up with Smitherman who’s legacy is the billion dollar e-health fiasco and the multi-billion dollar green energy rip-off.
Draft Tory. He might be the only semi-sensible challenger who is pink enough to get elected in this latte-drenched burg.
