A more important news story is that gasoline now costs more in Ontario than in Quebec thanks to the HST. It sure looks like a tax grab to me.

The HST did not have to be a tax grab. You san set the level of the HST to make it revenue-neutral. The HST is an excellent idea as tax reform. But there are really two issues here. The first is the design of the sales tax, and a GST/HST is a good idea on that front. The second is the level at which you set it. On that front, McGuinty has indeed turned it into a tax grab. In fact, that is probably the real reason McGuinty wanted to implement it — more tax revenue. Too bad because it gives an excellent idea for tax reform a bad name.

The smallest Center in the NBA leaves us. I’m okay with a 7′, 250 pound Bargnani starting. 25 years old and can shoot the three like no tomorrow.

Novitzki is being courted. I would love to see him play here.

Target will keep Walmart honest up here. They do a great job on the other side of the border.

BTW. Canada Day festivities in Vaughan start at 3:30 p.m. Your daughter may be interested. Faber Drive and Karl Wolf are free. My daughter and 2 friends arrived at 1:30 p.m. Only 3 other girls there to witness the sound check and meet Canada’s Faber Drive boys.
