Probability of this being reported in Maclean’s

Less than zero.

It’s awesome what the Egyptian Muslims are doing!

However, what sticks out in my mind is the article’s statement:

“The economic woes of a country that favours the rich have only exacerbated the frustration of a population of 80 million whose majority struggle each day to survive.”

It is becoming a too common occurance worldwide. Visiting C.E.S. in Vegas, and talking to more than a few residents of the city, I get the feeling that this statement would also apply here.

  2. Warren, you’re right re Maclean’s. This story doesn’t polarize so they won’t pick it up. Gives the lie to Don Cherry’s “left-wing media” slur. Nonsense. Do we have any left wing mainstream media, Rabble.ca notwithstanding?

The pathetic coverage Wikileaks is receiving this side of the pond, north of the U.S., is testamount to the failure of our Canadian media in reporting anything that may offend the U.S. or that may offend an American advertiser.

It is sad that the internet has thusfar failed to be a medium of wide, effective, information dissemination that is not biased or beholden to corporations.

Thank you for posting this. It is a sad state of affairs when I cannot find articles about this within Canada’s mainstream media, instead having to find it on a random blog by some dude who prepares his KD in the most funny ways.

Maclean’s is far from the only media outlet to ignore anything that doesn’t fit the “they’re all extremists” frame. Here in Ottawa, a past-his-sell-by troll named Lowell Green regularly shakes his wattles in the wake of any terrorist attack or arrest with bleats of “why don’t the moderate Muslims condemn it?” which might be a worthwhile point if there weren’t easily discoverable condemnations of such behaviour from individual Muslims and from the associations which represent them.

All the news that fits the slant.

There is the Tyee. It is online. It is the best newspaper in Canada. Everybody should read it.

?This is not about us and them,? said Dalia Mustafa, a student who attended mass at Virgin Mary Church on Maraashly Street. ?We are one. This was an attack on Egypt as a whole, and I am standing with the Copts because the only way things will change in this country is if we come together.?

God Bless little Children while they are still too young to hate.
