Son Two is at the bottom of this pile

We won! Finally! And against the team that hasn’t lost a game all season!

Son, the goalie, is under that pile-on.  Father, the proud one, took the picture to brag.

(It’s also a souvenir: everyone expects Rob Ford is going to lock out city workers this weekend – which means that hockey, at places like Leaside, is possibly over for the season.)

Rob Ford doesn’t care if my kids get to play hockey for the rest of this season.
We parents are going to make him care.

God that picture brings me back. Sunday mornings growing up me team would open that rink for practice. Is it still cold as a Kapuskasing Christmas?

  2. Claude says:

I was a reluctant hockey dad, but 5 years later, I too celebrate these wonderful moments. Not all kids are on winning teams, but often the best teams are the ones who learn through their adversity. Thanks for sharing!

  3. Michael Radan says:

    Congrats to your son.

And to continue on the positive vein, according to Doug holyday the city has no plans to lockout workers. On second thought, that’s probably a sure sign they are going to do it.

  4. Kevin says:

    Looks like Canadiens # 21 – B Gionta.

  5. Merrill Smith says:

Dave Gardner, son of Cal Gardner, grew up in Leaside and played two seasons with the Habs. He wore #21.
