Seriously, what’s the big deal with those images? Let’s leave the morality/religious bullshit to the Cons please. The French culture is quite different and those images don’t offend in Quebec like they do in English Canada. Please, let’s loosen up folks.
It’s not about the images or religious. I have absolutely no problem with people viewing porn. It’s about me paying for it. CBC needs to be sold.
1 billion per year savings sounds great to me.
Buy off the shelf soon to be obsolete technology? Waste of money. Like buying a VCR instead of a Blue Ray.
To sustain a sovereign country we need this type of investment. Even if no threat exists today we still need to have the ability to protect ourselves and friends. Think of this jet purchase as you would when you buy house insurance or lock your door a night.
Canada’s weak military is one of the only reasons why we still don’t have much clout internationally. We have all the pieces of a great country, except strength.
A waste of money is buying unproven technology at an unknown cost, not to mention that a single engine jet does not meet the operational needs of the RCAF.
This (RDI programming issue) is a serious issue that Sun TV has set a trap for the liberals with. Please don’t take the bait.
The issues at stake are artistic freedom, editorial freedom, independence of the public broadcaster from government interference, and competitiveness of the public broadcaster. Sun TV is misrepresenting this show– a successful, mainstream, fish-out-of-water scripted series set in the porn industry that is no more “pornography” than a scripted series about vampires is “satanism”– in order to convince you to hand the Conservatives the normalization of interfering in the work of the independent public broadcaster on a silver platter.
What do you think they will do to journalism, provision of service, and political programming once everyone agrees that the professionals at CBC shouldn’t be allowed to do their jobs independently?
They want CBC to be more like the private sector, but no one has stood in the way of HBO investing in True Blood which makes this show look very, very tame, and it has become the most successful series in HBO’s history. More to the point, no one has stood in the way of Canadian Broadcaster Bell Media licensing True Blood to be shown through Canadian channels to Canadians. Why should anyone stand in the way of the decision CBC has made to license this show. Bell’s show is much more “offensive” to delicate Conservative sensibilities, after all.
What I find ironic about this nonsense is that if someone gets shot in a CBC drama, nobody bats an eyelash. A few sex scenes, and dear god we’re all going to hell. You would have thought we’ve evolved since the 1800’s.
Let us praise the one eyed snake,
that randy organ that can make
both men and women swoon with lust
or hide their eyes in feigned disgust.
But while, admittedly, they do enthrall,
after one, you’ve seen them all.
You hanglos are so prude. LOL!!!!
So sex on HBO ok, but soft core on state broadcaster bad?
LOL, these prudes would crap if they saw what was on the BBC
Great point.
HBO doesn’t get $1.1 Billion a year from Canadian taxpayers.
What about the BBC?
They have well-meaning historically accurate tits.
Should CBC be using taxpayer dollars to show porn? Are they stupid? King Steve will gut the entire operation.

Or we could buy off the shelf fighter jets instead of an unproven technology. Billions in savings right there!

Get it? Murder= no big deal Sex= a terrible sin
Gotta love CON priorities.
Further irony is the Sunshine Girl, the only worthwhile page out of any Sun paper.
Brian Lilley is against dicks appearing on tv? Seriously?
Probably my favourite comment ever…

That is my morning smile!
I have it from a reliable source that all orgasms on soft core CBC porn were faked by federal bureaucrats.
LOL
“I don’t know what they are thinking…” – they are thinking French 🙂 Don’t like it, don’t watch it.

“Sun TV’s parent company sells a lot of porn. CBC does not sell porn. But somehow Sun TV is managing to get politicians to condemn CBC for selling porn.
It’s zany!”
