Be gentle with him, commenters. He was apparently hurt by what you said.

Er, months ago.

Really? Columnists read what little ol’ us have to say? Hmmm…

I love what Blatchford has done with her hair; it’s SOOOO natural. In other news: Andrew Coyne is a bleach-toothed egg-suckin’ dog, and Licia Corbella can die in a fire. All of the above goes double for Michael Coren and anyone at Maclean’s.

Are you gonna cry now? Cry, cry for me, crybaby!

Hate to self-link, but here’s a hilarious account of how the Ontrario Press Council ruled that David Warren failed to meet accepted journalistic standards on multiple occasions:

fyi, you put up a bad link there, WK… the url is completed repeated a second time and comes back from the citizen website as a bad request.

Oh, David Warren. He and Ken Gray are the Ottawa Citizen’s aging dementors, consistently sucking the life out of the urban fabric on the same consistent topic.

I have 2 problems with the new act.

First, why does it have to be called “Gay-Straight Alliance”? Why not have some local flavour added or permitted?

Secondly, why is “gay” the focus of the bullying? Lots of different kinds of difference is bullied. Nerds, fatsos, 4-eyes, and other non-gay students are the subject of bullies. If bullying was the target, why not target that?

And now that I think of it, isn’t “gay” a little limiting? If we are going for sexual orientation, girls can be a target.

Tim, the legislation ALLOWS the kids to call it what they want – if they want to call it the Hill Valley Rainbow Team, there’s nothing preventing them. Except the Catholic boards – until they were forced to stop bullying gay kids.

The other point people ignore is that schools weren’t trying to prevent groups of nerds, etc. from forming groups – just the gay kids. The main bullies the kids need protecting from are the school administrations themselves.

Governments don’t write legislation for all conceivable situations – only the real life ones. You can be sure that if and when the thugs who control Catholic schools in Ontario decide to gang up on another group of kids, the government will step in too. And if the kids aren’t gay, the Conservatives might even help out too.

David Warren is the main reason why I don’t subscribe to the Shitizen anymore. I couldn’t sleep knowing that some of my $$’s were going towards his salary!

Same here. I gve up when he “converted” during Bush 2. I have not purchased a Citizen since then, barely even go to their website on purpose (NNW links mostly).
