I’m almost starting to feel sorry for Mitt. Almost.

It is incredibly awkward trying to watch him campaign. He’s got very little charisma, and on top of that faces the following problem.

    – Moderates think he’s gone too far right
    – A chunk of his base doesn’t believe he’s actually conservative

So the independents aren’t going to swing his way because he tried to sell out to the Tea Party, and the Tea Party doesn’t believe him and don’t look all that motivated to go vote for him (especially now that Obama is pulling ahead nationally and in many swing states).

Sad part? After going with so called “moderates” in McCain and Romney in the last two elections, a large chunk of that party will blame the loss on not having a conservative enough candidate.

Plus the Christofascists will have a hard time voting for a Mormon.

      Well said.

At the same time, we shouldn’t discount how effective the Dems have been at defining him as an out of touch rich guy. If progressives up here want tips on how to beat the shit out of Harper, no need to look further than the progressives down south. They’ve become very good at it.

Pic of the week. Thanks for sharing. Any party dumb enough to let a guy like Romney lead them deserves to lose – most intelligent people thought he would be unelectable due to his business pedigree and history of vulture capitalism, and he hasn’t helped himself with his numerous gaffes. So much for my prediction two years ago that Obama was the next Jimmy Carter.

    • M-J says:

Did you make that prediction before or after Obama saved the US auto industry and killed OBL?

      • George says:

In all honesty, before. I didn’t have much faith that the average bumpkin in the US would look objectively at the fact that Obama inherited a huge mess from W and that anyone in Obama’s situation at the time he won the election had a Sisyphean task ahead. I fully expected Obama to fail miserably. Not that he’s been a tremendous success, but in terms of retail politics he’s infinitely more electable than anyone the GOP can run against him. That’s what happens when a party is hijacked by single-issue morons, religious zealots and rednecks.

You are far too kind, WK.
    No sympathy here.
    I guess I’m just cold.
    Obama rox.

I’m no fan of Mitt and it’s fun watching him turn inside out trying to be a hard core neo-con and kindly Ol’ Dad at the same time.
But in his defense a baby views anyone outside of mom, dad and siblings are scary as hell, want nothing to do with them, and make their feelings very clear, like this baby for instance.

Him and the GOP screwed over Ron Paul. America is lost.

  6. Theresa says:

I don’t feel sorry for Mitt – he is either a complete idiot or he has a team around him advising him that are complete idiots. I wish they would have the election tomorrow – I just am sick of seeing blunder after blunder.

This is a very effective anti Mitt AD, maybe someone could use it as template to make the same case against Stephen Harper, or Pete Mackay, Peter Kent, Tony Clement, man someone is going to be busy.
