Great analysis. Agree 100% that Obama’s convention speech wasn’t one of his best. However, the saving grace was Clinton’s – which folks are still talking about and crediting for the post-convention “bump”. The popular perception is that being overshadowed is bad – however, when it’s by an icon that has a 70% popularity rate, I would venture to say it does more good than harm. No doubt Clinton stole that show.
With unheard of levels of polarization in the United States, I think it’s fair to state that the winner may ultimately turn out to be the loser while the loser could end up thanking God that he did not win.
The US political system is so dysfunctional, corrupt, basically rotten to the core that I don’t think any real reform can come from within the electoral system anymore.
It would take a hell of a hail mary pass by Romney to pull ahead this late I think.

Any comment on the story about your colleague Ezra’s vitriolic hate-speech against Roma peoples?
Does anyone with a functioning brain actually read what that asshole writes?
Ever wonder where the term “asshole” came from? I think it means that everything that comes out of an “asshole’s” mouth is shit.
Warren,
