—I am old, I am old
I shall wear my trousers rolled. Dare I eat a peach, etc.
There’s all kinds of fun political stuff happening, and it’s exciting and positive and great.
But you know what preoccupies me, today, at this moment? Daughter is in Halifax, seriously considering Dal for next year. Assorted sons, meanwhile, hitting me up for dough for dances and girls and suchlike.
This is all happening too fast, thank you very much. Someone make it stop.
Welcome to the club … it’s all good.
Ha! Someone fetch Gran’paw his cardigan.
Embrace it. With luck, and in time, you’ll have grandchildren, who will make up for what comes to us all. They’re less work and more pleasure (if that’s possible) than your own children.

Coincidentally, just last night I discussed with friends the joys of having kids in their twenties. If you’ve done it right up until now, it’s time to reap a delightful harvest as they grow into adulthood.
Enjoy it! Second-best to the golden period between preschool and age 10 in my books.
She’ll love Dal. Aside from being far (though only 1.5 hrs by air and Porter will get you there now), Hali is a great mid-sized big city: big enough and central enough to the region that things are happening there (shows, writers, movies, concerts, etc) but small enough to be very manageable. And you can come stay at our cottage when you go visit her!
Merci! I’ll be the guy with walker and Geritol drip.
Life happens. Sometimes stunning, sometimes amazing and everything quick and progressively getting quicker it seems. The one thing I took away from Prufrock way back in my under-grad was that I never, ever want to be at a place in my life where eating a peach is anything close to daring. Aim higher than that and enjoy the ride.
I AM HAVING A DIFFICULT TIME DECIDING WHETHER TO GET YOU THE ROCKING CHAIR OR ROCKER-RECLINER CHAIR FOR CHRISTMAS !!
Surrender gracefully the things of youth……..
And do not go gently into that dark night!!!
Best thing to tell the kids is…you are broke ’cause you just lent Hammer Dom a Grand. Works evertime.
