On OLP memberships, and those who brag

Selling thousands of memberships is great.

Unless you’ve sold most of them in two ridings in downtown Toronto, that is.

Heh.

    Hi Warren,

Update on Mississauga Streetsville, Sandra sold a few memberships but I noticed that Sousa and Wynne’s people were much more present.

On my board, I think, seeing that many of our members are teachers, Wynne has received a lot of support. I think party unity is very important, and I’m excited to hear from all of the candidates.

    Sincerely,

    Brian

I’ve intercepted tweets the teachers are scared of a Premier Pupatello.

She’s the fiscal conservative in this race. Unlike a certain political party that claims the mantle, Pupatello actually has the chops and scars to prove it.

Oh and BTW… I don’t want to give too much away in the clear but a Premier Pupatello is the best Premier public education could have all things considered. After all, anybody want Hudak appointing the next education minister?

      • Sean says:

Teachers / all public employees should be far more afraid of Hudak. If he gets in b/c of the NDP dividing the vote with their “holier than thou” baloney…. They will really miss those easy peasey days w. D.M. and what they could have had with S.P.

      • Jill says:

I can’t believe someone managed to intercept teacher tweets on a public social media network.

Listen, if you’re really worried about a vote divide, you could show that you’d actually learned a lesson from KitWat, repeal Bill 115 and make some peace. Otherwise, you’ve made your bed.

Talked to two long time Libs this week. Both are running as GK delegates just to get to the convention. Both will dump him on the 2nd ballot for Pup..

WTH, Sean, the GK team has been too busy trying to catch up with membership sales to discuss delegates. There is a big difference between falsehoods and partisanship.

      • Warren says:

Peter, if your pal somehow wins, we’re toast for a decade or more.

WK, he is not the dark side. Yesterday, we said he has been the ideal candidate. He has changed. 2011 forced him to reevaluate everything. The micromanagement has ended. The idealism is still there. The guy who realizes that he can’t do it alone is here. He embodies the Liberal goals both of us agree with. I can’t understand the dislike. He is confused why the dislike. I know in 2006 you were neutral.

I understand if this does not get posted.

          • Tim Sullivan says:

I will not participate in the party if GK wins.

I got to tell you, it is not because he has or hasn’t changed his “micro-management” style. I’m pretty certain he has not changed his opportunism, his losing ways, and his lack of commitment to the party.

      • Sean says:

Selling memberships without delegates is a waste of time. To win this kind of convention, you need to organise teams of delegates to sell the memberships. At the end of the day its all about delegates. If GK’s team hasn’t got a strong idea of their slates in every riding, that’s scary. In some ridings bandwagon politics occur where one group of delegates – for one candidate – are selling memberships like mad. Often people who would rather someone else be leader, but don’t feel like starting a big local fight, will just ride the wave and go where they want after they are released on the floor. Happened a lot with Ignatieff in 2006. I think its happening with GK now. BTW, scooping up support like that is exactly how DM won in 1996.

Toronto will be a dog fight. The 905 will be as well, now that Takhar is in. Who wins in Kitchener, London, Windsor, Hamilton and Ottawa is what is going to matter. If one candidate sweeps those areas, all the rest are going to have serious trouble. You can’t win this thing with one region folks and the campaigns who presume so are going to get burned…
