Video: the Ford-Harper connection

I kind of doubt that Harper will be in attendance at Rob Ford’s barbecue this year. This morning’s headlines – in which Ford’s former Chief of Staff confirms that Ford has a substance abuse problem, and that martial law is about to be declared in North America’s fourth-largest city – suggest Harper may be, er, elsewhere on the appointed day.

But we shouldn’t let him get away with that. Stephen Harper has aided and abetted Rob Ford every step of the way. Given his present difficulties, he doesn’t want you to remember that (his minions have scrubbed the video below every time it pops up on the Internet – but not on this web site!). But the fact remains: he’s one of Rob Ford’s enablers. (And don’t get me started on the ones who were, and now pretend not to be.)

Here’s the video. Download it and share it!

So the CBC story is full of more unamed sources and nothing from the former Chief of staff himself.

Have some balls and put your name with the information, because if the mayor does have a problem, these unamed sources running to the media aren’t helping him.

Then again, they probably aren’t trying to.

    404 on the video link.

Graham, are you paid to come on here and spout the Conservative Party line? Or are you just a true die hard believer and do it for free?

    • Graham says:

What Conservative party line am I spouting exactly?

I hate it when media use sources who don’t have the stones to put their names to their claims. That holds true for stories about Conservatives, Liberals or NDPers.

Does Ford have a drug problem? I have no idea. But neither do any of you. All we have is an alleged video of him smoking what some drug dealers claim is crack, and the owners of said video that have apparently disappeared.

Has he handled this situation well? Obviously not. People who specialize in public realations will be using his response to these allegations as an example of what not to do for decades.

Forgive me for actually wanting to see the alleged video for myself before trusting what the Toronto Stat claims, given their history when it comes to Rob Ford.

Exactly. Warren’s said as much himself, perhaps not in those word exactly but conveyed nonetheless.

    Graham is Rob Ford.

Is the video flipped or does SH always reach out w/ his left hand to shake hands?

I’m also having no luck with the DL and I DESPERATELY want it.

Are you accusing of Stintz being an enabler of Ford’s foibles? How? By attempting to work with the Mayor until it became pointless? Just curious.
And doesn’t Ford look like a puppy dog who has just had his belly rubbed when Harper compliments him. If those two went fishing I wonder how long for Stephen to realize he was talking to a simpleton? And why didn’t his political radar fire into the red?

    • Warren says:

She got a huge patronage appointment from him, and was an early and enthusiastic backer. That’s her record, and she’s going to be made to wear it.

      • patrick says:

I guess you don’t approve of Mammo either! LOL. Still she won’t be the first politician following a wave to maintain or obtain power. And, her cynicism or optimism at trumping for Ford aside, aren’t we glad that it was Stintz in the TTC chair and not Mammo?

        • Graham says:

Mammo supports who he thinks is best for HIM.

He was an NDP member and supporter of David Miller until Miller’s popularity hit the floor after the garbage strike in 2009.

There are some in the Tory caucus who make Ford look like a Rhodes scholar. Being a simpleton is no barrier to success in politics

I always wondered why Steve hung out with Rob. People claim Steve is a really smart guy, hanging with Rob makes me wonder about that. I suspect Steve thought at some point he might be able to have Rob or Doug run for a federal seat. Steve would run Ted Bundy if he thought he’d win a seat. Up until now, Rob could probably have won a seat in an Etobicoke riding, Doug as well. That probably won’t happen now.

I’ve heard that Harper will pass on Ford’s bbq this summer in favour of attending the party being hosted by Tyrone Biggums.

  10. Brad Young says:

Normally I don’t comment twice, but Harper is out of his fucking mind. He states in the video he cleaned up the leftist mess. Really? He took a surplus and created the largest deficit of all times. If he keeps cleaning up, we’ll never get out of debt.

I often wonder if he believes his own bullshit, does he ever sit down with his wife or friends or colleauges and admit he has created a mess with his spending.

I truly think he is narcissitic enough to believe his own hype. He’s deluded as all meglomaniacs are.
