In Belleville for Three Oaks shelter

Lala and me are in Belleville, where I speechified and we raised $1,000 for the Three Oaks shelter for abused women and their children. Sold some books, preached the progressive gospel, and – most of all – raised money for Three Oak’s second stage housing project. Ribbon-cutting later this year, and we will be there.

In other news, is Spring ever going to come?

Avril Lavigne is from Belleville. So is Lee Aaron. Avril is a fan of hers too. Weird coincidence, isn’t it?
Spring will come, probably in May. It will last for a month or two. Then we will have summer for two months and after that it will be winter again.

All kidding aside, all sane humans know this is a very serious issue – unfortunately not just in Belleville. Raising your voice in political dissent is one thing. Raising your voice and/or your hand against your wife or children is not. Open your heart and your cheque book: http://threeoaksshelterandservices.ca/site/

Watch those public speaking engagements to raise money for charities. They can come back and bite you on the ass if ever you enter federal politics, lol. Kidding aside, bravo for doing this on behalf of an unquestionably worthy cause.

Good on you…great that we have these shelters…a shame that we need them.

Off topic WK, but some words of, er, “wisdom” from a fellow traveller –
