I was right the first time…….from ebay: “Johnson Kennedy 1964 campaign button. Some people think this is a 1960 Kennedy Johnson button, but if you look closely you will see, that while their certainly is the family resemblance to John F Kennedy it is actually a photo of Robert Kennedy who was running for New York State Senator. Original and interesting.”
Wondering about what it represents, though. They were never on the same ticket, RFK & LBJ, and they detested each other according to anything I’ve ever read. Is it perhaps from the ’64 Democratic Convention? I know they had a monstrious JFK tribute at the convention that year … maybe it was an attempt to load up on imagery on the part of the Party?
Thank you for posting this…..after reading Johnson’s biography many years ago, he became a hero of mine……Johnson was a school teacher, and in his early years taught Hispanic children at a segregated school in Texas…..this quote, I think, indicates the measure of the man….
“I shall never forget the faces of the boys and the girls in that little Welhausen Mexican School, and I remember even yet the pain of realizing and knowing then that college was closed to practically every one of those children because they were too poor. And I think it was then that I made up my mind that this nation could never rest while the door to knowledge remained closed to any American.”
That is really cool!
I have a “Mike for Me in ’63” button that I often wear. At a BBQ in the late 90’s I was wearing my ’63 button & Sheila Copps asked me about it & I told her that back in Calgary about 10 years before, I had traded 2 John Diefenbaker buttons for the one I was wearing.
Without missing a beat Sheila said: “You got a great deal, Mike Pearson was worth way more than 2 John Diefenbakers!”
Cripes…at first glance, I thought it was Bobby Kennedy…..and went WTF?…..but obviously its a very youthful looking JFK…..
Johnson I think could have been a very good President, had he not been sidetracked by the war in Vietnam…..

This is actually a somewhat unique 1964 “coattails” button depicting LBJ with RFK when the latter first ran for the Senate.
That is cool! What did that cost you?

Johnson, the Civil Rights Act doesn’t pass without him.

No doubt that Goldwater commercial inspired you.

Looks like this is from the Democratic convention of ’64 when there was pressure for LBJ to choose RFK as his running mate. Not an idea Johnson went along with:

Both LBJ and RFK are rolling in their graves with a button that presents the two of them together.
That is really cool!
