Open letter to Ontario political parties

Dear political parties:

I run Canada’s Best-Loved Political Web Site© – you may have heard of it. It is not a “blog.”

During your election campaign thing, if you have ads you want seen by the smartest political online audience in the civilized world, send them to me here. I will then put them up – with or without incisive commentary, depending on my mood – and they will be eyeballed many more times than ever happens on your puny, pathetic party websites.

This is a time-limited offer. It ends when the campaign does, and two of you are kicked to the curb.

Sincerely,

Warren

“two of you are kicked to the curb”

What if there is a coalition government?

  2. Matthew says:

And yet, the “Musings” button in your navigation refers readers to “warrenkinsella.com/blog”, which you’ve tried (unsuccessfully) to block.

Is your offer open to the Green Party and any of the Parties that are or might be accredited by the close of nominations.

I like the new ‘non-partisan’ you, Warren… Wait, you did say you’d post *without* comments, right?

WK I love ya and for your own good, I must say this is a blog ffs. A blog does not anymore signify pajama-in-your-basement-ness, it’s a legit thing, this isn’t 1996 and you must keep up with the times. Andrew Sullivan (whom I’m sure you quite disagree and/or agree on many things) has a successful paid blog ffs. Protesting yourself a “website” and not a blog means NOTHING (ooh, sorry for the allcaps but needed there), get over it. Your site is in fact a blog for all intents and purposes, embrace it. You are still too legit to quit.

I get that you run a website, but you *also* run a blog, which you host on your website. It wouldn’t be a website if, for example, you were just using a wordpress or livejournal account.

It is perfectly truthful and accurate for me to say that I am currently writing a comment on your blog article. Further, since your website landing page is constructed to display the most recent blog postings, it’s conventionally acceptable to refer to the website as a blog.

Why is this important to you? Do you view “blogger” as a pejorative?

  7. Rob R says:

It seems odd to me that you would want to undermine your own overall credibility by prominently assuming an irrational and indefensible position on an irrelevant matter.

At least when Frank Luntz takes weirdo liberties with language, he remains aligned with a larger strategic objective.

as long as you are “sincere” about it…………..
