IMO, let go. Knocking him down now just makes people think less of you. The average Joan and Joe knows the guy needs rehab. Just let him do it. If he doesn’t, it is his family’s loss, not the rest of ours.

Regardless of addiction issues the guy has severe emotional issues that need to be dealt with, and the negative PR for him and his homophobic racist crap is too much to bear, Toronto deserves better!
Why should be people tip toe over his stint in rehab and give him respect, he hasnt shown any for the citizens of toronto or any of his colleagues, his disgusting comments about the women he works with should be enough to finish him.
You think of one person in any other political arena that has ever gotten away with this level of nasty mendacious audacity and unprofessional behaviour in Canada. For all the Ford apologists, picture Trudeau acting like this, would you forgive him? or how about Kathleen Wynne, if she went on a bender, more then once, lol. the doublestandard for this audacious clown is astounding.

I knew something was fishy when he was talking to reporters within the first 72 hours of his supposed entry into a rehab program.
He and the rest of the Fords are laughing at all of us.
Well, it was a little longer than 72 hours.
He went in last Wednesday or Thursday May 1st or 2nd) and talked to Joe Warmington of the Sun sometime on May 6th.
Not having any real knowledge of rehab programs, I was under the impression it was detox for the first 72 hours, then treatement begins.
But I admit is sounds odd inpatients are allowed to have their cell phones.
680 News in Toronto now reporting Rob had his pee-pee slapped by doctors treating him for talking to the media. Dougie too.
Could it be made up to try and get media here to stop asking where he is? I suppose.

The Toronto Sun will do everything they can to pimp for the mayor while he is off getting hammered, so expect lots of stories about blubberman. I have lost all respect for Sun media. They couldn’t even live up to their own low standards.
hmmm.. most of the real journalists at Sun Media have come out against Ford .. many before latest garbage .. Star/globe seems to be focusing on beating things to death to sell papers and paying drug dealers for videos etc

With the notable exception of Peat and Mandel, the Toronto Sun and the fan-boys at Sun News Network have been flat-out fluffing for Ford to keep his campaign alive while he is off pretending to dry out. I think those few critical editorials were issued solely as cover. They can’t have it both ways. Also, answer this: Which is worse, paying a third party for scandalous material — or agreeing to spin news, lie and cover up for a source in order to get access?
Sorry, you’re simply wrong. Have people at the Toronto Sun been critical of the other media outlets for their constant hounding of Ford? Absolutely.
But since the crack smoking and other stuff was confirmed, Lorrie Goldstein, Jon Robson, the Toronto Sun editorial board, Adrienne Batra (who used to work for Ford), Michael Coren, Simon Kent and others have all called for Ford to resign.
With all due respect Matt you must not be watching very closely. On the one hand these folks call for his resignation, then go about spinning his antics in as positive a light as they can. The Sun is trying desperately to play both ends against the middle. It won’t be the first time either.

Rob Ford attempting to hide from the media makes about as much sense as trying to hide from a lion by dressing up in a zebra suit.

On a personal level Mr. Ford has one ounce of my sympathy. No private sector company would put up with this behaviour from a CEO nor from the janitor. In my youth I had a friend who worked at a labels plant in Brampton who abused substances, called in sick a lot, was severely reprimanded (I do not know if he was fired). If you are fifty or older or a young keener you might remember the case of Senator Gary Hart -he bated the press by proclaiming that he was “squeaky clean”. The press was relentless. The sh*t hit the fan for Senator Hart. When a public figure invites as much press as Mr. Ford they should be squeaky clean. BTW Why on earth is there no Occupational Health policy addressing substance abuse at City Hall, every employee, manager?? If there is one: a) Why was it not used; b) Why does it have no proper way to help people with substance abuse? In the past I worked with addicted professionals from Nurses, Doctors, Psychologists, Police and even one Mayor. In each case their employer required them to be immediately monitored for drug/alcohol use and they had to attend follow up treatment for two years. Channels of communication were kept between employer and Substance Abuse Treatment Centre. How hard is that?
