That is just sick, ugly, nasty. spiteful, disgusting, and right down there with the worst of them. Not something to be said while someone is actually fighting cancer under any circumstances. In my view, to call it in bad taste doesn’t begin to do this justice.

Our collective humanity helps me to get up in the morning. Without it, we are truly lost…

As a cancer survivor I recognize personal veracity & integrity are not prerequisites to “beat cancer” – even though a cancer diagnosis apparently sanitizes the most appalling character flaws while gently cocooning the patient under the convenient-cancer-cone-of-sainthood.

It appears, even post-cancer diagnosis, the Rob Ford trifecta of trashy lifestyle, trashy politics & concomitant trashy comedy has evolved into a potent independent alien life form dedicated to taunting the Canadian zeitgeist with its rank & odoriferous manifestations.

I suspect that will be the case whether or not poor Mr. Ford outlives his cancer.

    Derek Pearce says:

Hmmmm. Let me clarify that I do not wish Rob Ford to die of cancer. But I’d like to know more about this Foad guy or “Comedy Drake” account. Without looking up a thing I’m going to guess this guy does stand-up gigs, and that The Drake has a comedy night? (Off to google after this, will clarify if I’m wrong* Yep, smarty pants me I guessed right).

I mean, if the late Joan Rivers had made this joke people wouldn’t be quite so appalled, they’d laugh and note how outrageous and purposely-offensive it is.

Well, a joke popped into my head as soon as I heard “fat cancer” and I posted it here. I certainly didn’t mean Ford any ill will by it. A joke, simple, cruel or vulgar is just a joke. It is not a wish for Ford to die from cancer. The joke is a reflection of Ford’s work, his behaviour and the level that he and his brother have debased the politics and social contract of this city. Is it funny? Not so much on twitter, but might be a laugh on stage with the right timing and context. I can think of far more offensive things said by the Fords and minions.
