Justin Trudeau wants Bill Blair to be a Liberal candidate? For real?

What a disgrace. And here’s why.

“We have a chance today, to show Bill that we will back him, like he has backed us for so many years.” Who’s the “us” that he’s “backed”? Hasn’t been the people who live in Toronto, that’s for damn sure. I lost all respect for this jackass when he let the Rob Ford saga carry on. I don’t make $367,400 a year for policing, so maybe I’m naive, but where I come from, when you have video of someone committing a crime, you “arrest them” and “put them in jail”, if you’re any kind of cop. Barney Fife here doesn’t seem to have gotten the memo.

I really don’t recognize this Liberal Party anymore. They’re all over the map politically. Oppose bombing ISIS but support Bill C 51, a bill they admit is flawed, because they don’t want Harper to say they’re ‘soft” on terror! Declare nominations will be “open” then do the opposite. Claim to be “progressive” and then welcome Eve Adams and now it seems Bill Blair with open arms. This Party it seems is all about “tactics” and not “strategy”. Unless of course the strategy is to become “Conservative Party Lite”, in which case well done.

But in so doing they’ve abandoned the centre left vote to the NDP. There is only ONE progressive party now. Thats the NDP and thats who I will be voting for.

This is only acceptable if he’s needed to beat Fantino in his riding. Otherwise best steer clear.

I am so very, fucking close to giving up altogether on the Liberal Party of Canada.

Just mulling over your previous cue to us on why the Liberals and ND’s are unlikely to merge! Bill Blair and Francoise Boivin…I don’t think so.

  6. sezme says:

I can see why they want him politically. I think in spite of everything, Blair remains relatively popular, just like Fantino was. Morally, it’s a whole different story, and I wouldn’t touch him with a barge pole. But I’m not out to accuse the LPC of having morals.

Can someone please tell me who among Justin’s entourage has won anything more than a debating tournament?

Is even losing more ridings in Toronto than under Iggy the plan? Just wow!

Justin is a winner, but these know-it-all clowns are going to make him a loser.

The moment Fantino is officially green-lit, which seems to be a fait accompli, my vote, and those of many other Liberals I know, will officially go over to the NDP this election cycle. Should the enourage care? Yes, they should!

      slip,

The moment Fantino II (Blair) is officially green-lit, which seems to be a fait accompli, my vote, and those of many other Liberals I know, will officially go over to the NDP this election cycle. Should the enourage care? Yes, they should!

I am increasingly unimpressed with Justin Trudeau. He either apes Conservative policy without argument (eg. recent support of Harper’s decision to add Canadian forces to the Ukraine) or removes all doubt about his ‘talents’ when he opens his mouth.

  9. Bruce Marcille says:

Full disclosure: I believe in limiting government (a hazard of working for one,) but Blair is a marquee candidate. If you aren’t Tory, or you’re undecided, seeing that familiar name on the ballot counts for a lot.
And the people who are most offended by this, well, they tend not to vote anyway.

Now, in the bigger picture, if Mulcair can make JT wear this, that could cost him nationally. So many ripples.

Oh, I don’t know…seems to me that people not in power do not look as competent as those who are in power. Most of the time, it takes a lot of work for a person to grow into a role. This fellow had a long bounce after he won the leadership, and I think the Liberal Party has been riding on his personal appeal. It will soon be time for the rest of that party to grab hold of the rope and help with the job. The Libs have a few months yet, as do the other parties.
As well, the Conservatives just saw what was left of the CWB sold (51%) to a foreign company. We are selling raw uranium to India for USA/Indian value added. These guys just might find their ‘me-tooing’ with NATO to kick Russia out of the Black Sea, and the rest of their tough guy bellicosity in foreign affairs has a few unlooked for blowback in the next few months.

  11. Matt says:

There are rumours the Conservatives have also approached Blair. Who started them I have no idea, but Blair wasn’t exactly on good terms with the government over his very public campaign to save the long gun registry while head of the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police.

Hell, maybe the Conservatives started the rumour when they really had no interest to scare the Liberals into trying to get him.

Guess the kid just isn’t ready for prime time. Back to the drawing board.

  13. smelter rat says:

Compared to Harper? Are you serious?

  14. MississaugaPeter says:

A getting smaller group, but one that the Liberals could count on in the past, will thanks to the moronic cabal around JT, be waging a never before seen anything like it war against the Liberal Party. May be what returns Gail Shea in a sea of red. You wonder where they were during Kathleen’s election and this sex education thing, well, they are preparing for JT, and have been for over a year and a half.

The nitwits think they can replace all the older Liberals they are alienating with hipsters from Toronto. In an election with Liberal Blair, even they (Toronto hipsters) will find another place, just like the BC university students who have shifted away from JT after Bill 51.

Fearless prediction for this fall: JT will follow Harper in not doing any open forums at any university campuses during the fall campaign.

  15. Priyesh says:

I don’t think Conservatives deserve credit on this one. That’s just slogans and wishful thinking.

A much bigger worry is that the Liberal Party hasn’t learned anything since Michael Ignatieff, and they’re giving the same bum advice to the new leader.

  16. Africon says:

“A meet & greet scheduled for Friday was originally booked at Our Lady of the ASSUMPTION Centre in Stratford.”

Seems to me that a lot of LPC assumptions about JT are now hanging by a thread.
