—Jean Lapierre
…was on a plane that just crashed in Îles-de-la-Madeleine, on the way to a family funeral. Jean and I worked closely together on the Hill in 1984, and I can’t say enough about how much he knows about politics. Hope he and his family are okay.
I am sorry man, but it would appear they were all killed.
Unfortunately, all seven people on the plane, including LaPierre, died in the crash.

Warren,
My sympathies to you and all those who called him friend.
Very sad and shocked about Jean Lapierre’s sudden passing.
What a talented man he was. We ordinary folks have lost one of our only real voices. He was one of very few in the media who actually spoke truth to power, with no axes to grind and no ulterior motives. I always respected him for that. He was what his colleagues should asprire to be, but most aren’t. Sympathy to family and friends.
RIP
Jesus.
Now being reported that Mr. Lapierre and several of his siblings were on that plane going home to attend their fathers funeral.
His poor mother.
I know. This is just horribly tragic.
His wife was on the plane, too. This is just horribly tragic.
Holy crap.
Just heard Mr. Lapierres brother in-law was on a plane either last night or this morning heading to the funeral of Mr Lapierres father and the plane had to make an emergency landing after it lost an engine.
