In other news sky is blue, water is wet. And vote Bernie Sanders instead, Hillary is a puppet of wall street.

  2. Darren H says:

Uh-oh! Bloomberg is looking at running as an independent. Could the left split the vote and hand Trump the Presidency?? America may get its Notley.

    • Ronald O'Dowd says:

      Darren H,

There is no way in hell that Rachael Notley can legitimately be compared with The Donald.

      • G. McRae says:

Notely the split vote analogy, not Notely the person.

        • Darren H says:

Notley the person. She has done more harm to my family and friends than Trump has. That’s an evidence-based statement.

          • Mike says:

Yeah I’m amazed that Notley has lowered the price of oil to $30. Things were much better under the PCs who were smart enough to keep oil prices high.

          • EB says:

Why is it that some people need to be reminded of the obvious?

Any harm that was done to you was done by the Alberta Conservatives and the Harper Conservatives. They bet the house, the farm, and the country on the price of oil; a commodity whose price they had no control over.

As Harper said, “We are an emerging energy super power”. I guess some people actually believed him.

Seriously, Darren, you need to pay a lot more attention.

like the words to the song, now what is the tune? Can I sing along!?

I think Bloomberg is thinking of running because if the republican party elects Trump as their candidate, many will leave the party and will want to park their money and vote somewhere else. It might lead to a third political party in the U.S.A. Neither Cruz nor Trump may have much appeal to many Republicans.

  4. mikeTO says:

Replace “hates” with “doesn’t bend over for” and you have a Trump 2016 song that will make you rich(er)!

  5. Al in Cranbrook says:

Yeah, Trump, get with the program, eh!

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3413885/Hypocrisy-humbug-decadence-Davos-Crooning-Hollywood-listers-billionaire-hedge-funders-sumptuous-ski-lodges-welcome-World-Economic-Forum.html

You know, I have nothing against wealth. Or enjoying wealth.

What I do have a problem is people whom own ten car garages full of Ferraris and Bentleys, attached to their twenty room mansions with eight bathrooms and an olympic worthy indoor pool, telling me I should ride a f**king bike to work and shiver in the dark in order to reduce my carbon footprint and thus be sufficiently “green” enough to suit them.

So far, I haven’t heard Trump preaching this BS to the peasantry.

    How novel.

    • Justin, not in Ottawa says:

You’re absolutely right Al. The regressive line of shared guilt is no longer working in the United States. When Hollywood stars preach restraint whilst not living by their own rules, it just becomes a game of ‘do as I say not as I do’.

  6. e.a.f. says:

Trump hasn’t preached it to the peasants, because he most likely doesn’t understand climate change. You are quite correct though about those who “preach” but don’t ‘practise”.

Very few “A” listers live a minimal life. You don’t see any of them wear the same outfit twice.

    • Al in Cranbrook says:

And maybe he does understand climate change…and like at least half the population, doesn’t buy into the nonsense.

Given what’s happening on the east coast…AGAIN…maybe a lot more won’t be buying into this idiocy anymore, either.

…oh, yeah, I forgot. Global Warming causes winters from hell. Silly me.

  7. Steve T says:

If he were only an asshole, it might be OK to just mock him and leave it at that. There are plenty of assholes in the world. The problem with Trump is that he is an asshole with a following – a big one – which means even if he doesn’t actually get into power, his views influence those who might get into power. It shifts the spectrum of discussion, and makes dangerous ideas seem normal.

If you needed any more proof of this, even Glenn Beck is worried:

  8. MonteCristo says:

I can easily see this as the Democratic convention campaign theme song.

You did copyright this material in the USA …I hope.

Proceeds to the home of refuge for former billionaires

    • e.a.f. says:

refuge for former billionaires, how about if Trump and or Cruz are elected several million American political refugees trying to get into Canada.

  9. JamesHalifax says:

    Hmm….

I’m sure it comes across better when accompanied by instrumentals.

That being said…I tend to agree. He is indeed an A-hole.

  10. nobonus4nonis says:

from someone who gets it re trump. wow

Trump never had a chance. America might be angry, but it does not want a blowhard billionaire whose specialty is profitable bankruptcy and strategic licensing to run its country.

But that does not mean television and newspapers did not love telling his story, it injected excitement, it sold advertising, and in the era of big data it was all opinion all the time. True, there were polls showing Trump with significant traction, but the data pros said that at this point in the game polls are unusually inaccurate.

But don’t let the facts get in the way of a good story.

    So what does this mean?

It shows the power of media. That’s the power to mold minds. That’s the story of this decade, with a plethora of information he who grabs the microphone wins.

    But not really.

Remember when Twitter was gonna save television?

And right now you’d think that Snapchat is the new “New York Times.”

It’s all scuttlebutt all the time. And those we used to consider experts have been revealed to be anything but. All the prognosticators bloviating on the opinion pages, on Fox and MSNBC and the inane CNN, never mind the networks. Just because you put someone in the anchor chair, after plastic surgery and world class makeup, that does not mean their opinion is worth a damn.

Meanwhile, the supposed most powerful man in news, Roger Ailes, has been revealed to be a paper tiger. If Donald Trump can beat Ailes, it shows that others can do, those with enough gumption to see that the entire media business is a facade of self-important people with little knowledge…

But a great deal of power.

    Want to be successful today?

Own the media. Publicity is everything. The rise from the bottom to the top via internet virality is a paradigm that expired with the last decade. Now the airwaves are cluttered, there are too many messages, and in a Tower of Babel society we all focus on that which everybody else does. Forget the iconoclast championing the obscure, that’s so sixties, the truth is we want points of discussion, and Trump provided one, just like Kim Kardashian and Taylor Swift before him.

And the truth is we live in a disorganized nation. One in which the rich rule, but not as much as they think they do. They’ve got all the money, but the people have power. But the people are swayed by the nincompoops in the media, they like the story instead of what feels right.

Trump never felt like he could win. His ascension to the throne was as flimsy as a “Rocky” story, fiction.

So when it doesn’t make sense, it doesn’t.

How in the hell did an entire country think this guy had a chance?

How did our entire media system lead us astray?

In what other ways are they leading us astray?

Nate Silver had it right, Trump has too many unfavorables. Meanwhile, Silver started to blink, pull back from the brink, and was excoriated by those believing in Trump.

    But Silver was right.

We hate the outliers, but they’re the only ones who can tell us the truth.

And what Trump told us was the media was a carny game that could be manipulated.

He could not win the election, never mind the nomination, but he taught us a lesson.

Here’s hoping more individuals who are unafraid of the media ignoramuses and bullies will challenge them too.

We’ll be better off for it.

  11. Eric Weiss says:

    Ted Cruz is worse.

  12. MonteCristo says:

Like him or not is irrelevant at this point.

Trump’s a contender, he’s won the coveted New Hampshire primary.

Since 1952, no presidential candidate has ever won in November without a good showing (1-2) in New Hampshire.

Twas said quite accurately: “The people of Iowa pick corn, the people of New Hampshire pick presidents,”

  13. Hugh Whalen says:

Pretty devastating indictment. Well, except for the Rosie O’Donnell line…

  14. Peter says:

Nice tune, but it seems every time you post it his numbers go up.

  15. Al in Cranbrook says:

It definitely turned out to be a shocker…not for Trump, but for Cruz. He finished behind Rubio. This is Cruz’s worst nightmare come true, especially given that S. Carolina was supposed to be made to order for him.

Now Bush is out of the race. Think the great majority of those votes would ever go to Trump or Cruz? When hell freezes over!

Which is why this race now becomes, not a three man contest, but in reality, two.

It’s now all about “Stop Trump”. And Rubio becomes the one to do it.

Kascih and Carson are spitting into the wind, and Super Tuesday will quickly settle the matter of their campaigns…and I have doubts now that Cruz will survive beyond March 1st, either.

  16. PJ says:

I do not believe Trump will be elected President of the USA. He might win the GOP nomination but that would be God’s gift to Hilary Clinton. The fact of the matter is that he has yet to win a primary or caucus where he has won 50% or more of the vote. As the GOP candidate field narrows, sure some support will come to Trump but the GOP establishment may for the future of its party, opt to elect Kasich or Rubio.

Even if Trump wins the nomination, it is emblematic of party that has lost its way. He cannot win a broad enough coalition to be elected President. The media at some point are going to start doing some investigative reports into his background that will likely not cast Trump in a favorable light.

    • Wayne says:

      Like they did for Justin?

    • davie says:

I am not so sure our North American media is up for this. I think they are making a lot of advertising money by featuring Trump in what they offer. I bet they would like to continue to make money.
They can’t sell Sanders; his message is uncomfortable for big business. Clinton is also a hard sell because too may people just do not like to read or hear about her and her husband. The other Republicans do not bring nearly the audience that Trump brings.

  17. Jack D says:

Every state Trump finds success in on the road to the nomination is another nail in the coffin of the Republican Party. If it ends up that Donald Trump wins top spot on the GOP ticket, the party infrastructure will literally crumble in on itself during the actual election. Trump will not be beholden to the establishment and the party brass will be utterly impotent. Trump needs no money, no GOTV machine and he needs no brain trust; he is an independent entity fuelled purely by his own ego. Either the establishment begrudgingly backs Trump –which I don’t believe will happen due to the irreconcilable differences– or they secretly campaign against Trump.

Cruz isn’t much better for the party either.

  18. Michael Bluth says:

Trump will moderate his rhetoric in the general election.

    He has said as much.

Instead of calling him an arsehole perhaps it’s better to try and understand his success.

He speaks plainly and honestly. Any regular politician talking about punching a protester in the face would back peddle immediately as their popularity would tumble.

Trump says it and is more popular as a result. Trump is a different animal and at some point people will try and figure out why he can’t be so easily dismissed.

    • Al in Cranbrook says:

Plainly and honestly in the same manner as does Hulk Hogan following a WWF cage match.

The general gist I’m getting is that, because the Democrats stuffed America with an idiot for a president for the last 7 years, the right thing to do is for Republicans to stuff them right back with yet another idiot…if not a bigger one!

      The pendulum swings, etc., etc…

Can’t believe the self indulgence of both Carson and Kasich. GTF out now, and send your supporters to Rubio so he can put an end to this f**king gong show!!!

If Rubio can pull far enough ahead of Cruz on Super Tuesday, it’ll force that obnoxious jerk out, and this becomes a two man race that he can win.

I’d like to point out that your girl Hillary is also an asshole. You can’t possibly believe that woman is honest about ANYTHING.
