Donald Trump fans in Ottawa-Vanier

…where, unhelpfully for my good friend Kid Kodak, a by-election is taking place this week.  Oops!

I hope they do lose. As a non-partisan small c conservative, I will not vote for any candidate that tries to bring Trump style populism to Canada.

  2. redraven says:

step on their necks early and don’t let em up.

  3. Matt says:

While I’m no fan or either Trump or Kid Kodak, November 8th 2016 should have taught everyone not to get too cocky or make any assumptions.

  4. Ron says:

    Quelle surprise !

  5. Ian Howard says:

And I know decent Tories exist somewhere.

  6. Ronald O'Dowd says:

    Warren,

I’m absolutely dumbfounded to discover that 45% of eligible voters did not vote in the last U.S. federal election.

Makes me wonder what a low byelection turnout will reveal.

I would be surprised if the PCs pulled it off and in fact think if the Liberals lose, it will more likely be to the NDP than PCs. The demographics in this riding are not good for them. Of the Ottawa area ridings, they should definitely win Carleton in 2018, Kanata-Carleton and Nepean should be winnable provided they don’t do something stupid, while Ottawa West-Nepean and Orleans are possible but fairly challenging. Ottawa South is probably the furthest they could ever get and even that would only be in a landslide and probably only for one term. Ottawa-Vanier and Ottawa Centre will go NDP before they go PC.

  8. BlueGritr says:

Liberals will take both ridings in Thursday’s provincial by-elections. And then, Ontario Tories will turn on Patrick Brown, big time.

    • Doug says:

The Liberals have no chance of winning in Niagara West-Glanbrook(I live in the riding, I know). If the PC’s lose it will be the NDP winning.

    • monkey says:

Ottawa-Vanier is a safe Liberal riding so if they lose it Wynne is gone. As for Niagara West-Glanbrook, their candidate is an idiot and who deserves to lose, but will win. This is a very safe Tory riding and with Wynne’s low approval ratings they won’t be picking up new ridings. Patrick Brown has many problems, but as they old saying goes, governments don’t win elections, governments defeat themselves.

      • fdoconnor says:

The Liberals has won 3 elections in a row that they should have lost because of incompetent Conservative leaders. With Brown it is very plausible for it to happen again.

        • monkey says:

If you are referring to the general election plausible, but Niagara West-Glanbrook is one of the safest Conservative seats in the province. Otherwise it would only go Liberal in a really bad election for the Tories, most likely if the Tories had been in power and were wildly unpopular. I do though think the Liberals can only win in 2018 if they get a new leader, I think Wynne is finished. If Brown messes up badly and Wynne is still Liberal leader, it would then be the NDP who would probably win, much like in Alberta when the Wildrose messed up, voters went straight over to the NDP rather than stopping at the PCs.

understanding politicians and political parties 101
doesn’t matter which one as they’re all the same.
Imagine deciding whether to get a dog or not. they don’t serve any real purpose and you don’t really need one but sometimes they listen just enough to bark when needed and maybe drive off an attacker.
    Ok. so it’s decision time.
Now stack up a giant pile of dog food and an equivalent pile of dog shit. guess who’ll be eating the dog food while the dog is eating steak and who’ll be picking up the dog shit. In about 12 years the dog will die and after an appropriate grieving period you get to do it all over again. now who’s the dumbest animal on the planet.

  10. Cory says:

That’s not Roxanne Villeneuve in the photo and she isn’t the candidate in GPR (she was last election).

  11. EB says:

I think it is pretty clear that people are sick to death of all politicians of all parties. They will stick a thumb in their own eyes to send that message.

  12. Tardis says:

So has there ever been any word on whether of not King Andy ever returned that flat screen TV as he promised? (Not to mention IPhone, laptops etc).
