If Ii were a politician, I would be careful making fun of millennials living in their parents’ home well into their twenties.
The results of the presidencies of Clinton, Bush, and Obama is that more young Americans under 30 than ever live at home in the basement with temporary employment and massive student debt.
The MPP is representative of his generation.
Trudeau and Morneau are promising to continue this. Morneau has already promised a future of temporary employment and stringing jobs together for young Canadians (while promising to see to global 1%’ers the best Canadian infrastructure assets, and have Canadians pay user fees to the global elites forever).

All my life I’ve tended con, but I’ve never been able to abide these intense, clean-cut young ideologues who have the solution to all our problems facing and seem to think a political debate is more erotic than a hot date. They’re the conservative counterpart to the scowling misanthropes who stay up all night arguing the wording of resolutions that the Dippers have to bear. There is a pretty good chance that the Ontario PC’s will finally win next time. Mind you they’ve had
plenty of chances to shoot fish in a barrel before and managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
But the fact that they elected a geek like Oosterhoff makes it look like they could beat the Billy Goat Curse.

The fact that the Liberals elected a law school dean, while the PCs elected a home schooled teen makes me think the Billy Goat Curse will live on.

Does anyone know if it is possible to knock him off in a nomination before next election or is he locked in? Niagara West (the new riding) is a fairly safe Conservative riding so even if they lose, I cannot see them losing this riding thus it would be good if he can get knocked off in the nomination. This can be done, Rob Anders was defeated this way so probably the best way to get rid of the neanderthals in safe ridings.

Yes it is(I live in the riding and am a PC member), he has to face another nomination meeting before 2018’s general election. I know of local politicians who have outright told me they are thinking of challenging him.
Ignore the “but he defeated Dykstra” stuff. Rick was unpopular with many because he was a carpetbagger and attempted to bring in out of riding people to win the nomination(but was caught) which caused many Quirk and Williscraft supporters to rank Oosterhoff ahead of Dykstra.
It’s possible a really well known local resident could collect enough support to knock him off, I’m not guaranteeing it but I’d say it’s a 40% possibility.

If he was a university drop-out, trust fund baby, good at snow boarding and a drama teacher he’d be fine. So much for encouraging young people to get involved in politics. Why bother? Unless you’re a partisan grit of course.

Jason Kenney is the one who dropped out before completing his university degree to get involved in politics. His nemesis did manage to complete two degrees and hold down non political jobs before entering politics. Kenney has yet to do that.
I am suspicious of anyone who doesn’t have life experience prior to holding elected office, be it the young Tories, young liberals and young NDPs. They tend to not see anything but black and white when the world works in shades of grey, as those who have a few years on them know. What makes this kid worse though is that he did not encounter peers outside his family group and so has no idea how other people outside his family and religion think. That’s not going to make him anything other than a puppet and unable to contribute in a meaningful way. The low turnout rate also shows that he doesn’t have a strong mandate. How can the kid comment on hydro when he hasn’t even paid a hydro bill. Things like this matter to a regular constituent not blinded by religious affiliation.
