   Petty and hateful. What specific security policy objective would this achieve? None. The only thing it will do is exercise power over vulnerable people. Macho strutting is often pretty funny, in this case it’s contemptible.

   What often crosses my mind about this is the Milgram experiments so many decades ago. An official can give orders, but to what extent will free thinking (and feeling) individuals follow those orders.
   How badly to you need your job to directly, physically, separate a kid from her or his mother?
