—Trump campaign conspired with Russia: guilty plea proves it
That Robert Mueller is one crafty guy.
He knew the Unpresident would say (a) the Manafort/Gates indictment doesn’t mention me or my campaign (b) they were bad guys I haven’t had any contact with in a long time, and (c) me and my campaign did nothing wrong.
Mueller knew Trump would do that. He knew.
So what did he do? He waited until the same morning Manafort and Gates were being charged – and then he quietly let this bombshell drop: one of Trump’s most senior campaign advisors – one of the advisors who was with him after the campaign, too – has pleaded guilty to conspiring with Russian agents. To get “dirt” on Hillary Clinton. “Thousands of emails.”
Donald Trump is going down, hard. It may take a while. But he is done.
My guess is he will pardon both of them so they won’t have to testify and they won’t be faced with a choice between accepting a plea bargain and revealing more dirt on Trump or a long time in jail. Yes that is an abuse of power, but Trump thinks he is above the law so nothing short of charging him or impeachment will work.
Presidential pardons only apply with federal crimes. They don’t with state level crimes.
They also require an admission of guilt, or did until Sheriff Foghorn RacistHorn was pardoned. If their statements or admissions implicate the administration, even if they don’t legally cripple the Presidency, they will finally force Congress to nut up.
If you accept a pardon, you no longer can plead the 5th, so you have to testify.
100 years ago, a poly-sci prof of mine scolded our side in a debate by saying “when you try to change the subject, you admit defeat”.
Predictably, in today’s news cycle, I noitice that the Trump people and their six-toed Goober supporters tend to only mention Manafort and Gates. Because the Papadolpulos thing is so inconvenient to the Trumptard “nothingburger” narrative.
Warren,
My guess is that the rollout has been expertly choreographed by Mueller. I expect at least one bomb going off in succession one week at a time.
