Lovey, can you ask the maids if they saw the $41,000 I lost in the main dining room about three years ago?

It’s age revealing when you get the reference to Gilligans Isle.

The guy runs Morneau Shepell for Christsakes! They run EAP programs for governments across the country. And he is a big corporate finance ‘Captain of Industry’. He is well-versed in financial ethics, conflict of interest, financial disclosure. Yet, this former Titan of Industry “forgot” to recuse himself? Never occurred to him what he and his BFF Justin were doing was wrong? Oops. Promise I won’t do it again.

Justin: Hiya, Bill, What are you doing?
Bill: I’m making notes for a book. It’s to be a chronicle of our adventures… I think it’s a book people will want to buy, don’t you?
Justin: Sure, I’ll buy one. I’m dying to find out what happens to us.

35 Cabinet Ministers just sat there and said all this was fine. 33 of them probably still think they are soon to be leadership material. 33 of them are dead wrong.

35 cabinet ministers have the best job they will ever have. And they know it. Nothing Trumps that. Pun intended.

He has now become a laughingstock. Brings to mind this classic bit by Steve Martin:

The SNL version over 42 years ago speaking of age revealing:

“You.. can be a millionaire.. and never pay taxes! You can be a millionaire.. and never pay taxes! You say.. “Steve.. how can I be a millionaire.. and never pay taxes?” First.. get a million dollars. Now.. you say, “Steve.. what do I say to the tax man when he comes to my door and says, ‘You.. have never paid taxes’?” Two simple words. Two simple words in the English language: “I forgot!” How many times do we let ourselves get into terrible situations because we don’t say “I forgot”? Let’s say you’re on trial for armed robbery. You say to the judge, “I forgot armed robbery was illegal.” Let’s suppose he says back to you, “You have committed a foul crime. you have stolen hundreds and thousands of dollars from people at random, and you say, ‘I forgot’?” Two simple words: Excuuuuuse me!!“”

From Trudeau’s mandate letter to Minister Morneau:
    – you must uphold the highest standards of honesty
    – observe the highest ethical standards in everything you do
    – and both the performance of your official duties and the arrangements of your private affairs should bear the closest public scrutiny

Obviously Mr Morneau has failed miserably, as has Mr Trudeau.

The Liberals experience ethics, honesty, and integrity differently.

Is this a Canadian government or a Soviet one?

    • Yet Another Calgarian says:

      Soviet.

They appear to have changed the wording on the firearms OIC to not allow grandfathering of already owned rifles so we are officially into government confiscation of private property by fiat since they havent actually passed any laws to do so.

Much like SNC not much respect is evident for our laws and Parliament.

    Dear CRA,
Sorry about that $20,000 Federal Income Tax bill from two years back. I did not have any awareness of that. Your notice never arrived in my mail box. It was always my intention to pay. Thanks for your understanding. All the best, Chris

    Dear Chris,
That’s okay. We like to give government services on a complementary basis to high-income taxpayers. By the way, thanks for buying our agents all those fancy lunches and paying for their green fees at that swanky country club. We thank you for eventually remembering your tax bill and hope you have a great summer.

Justin needs some new boats. The eight he bought for the cottage at Harrington Lake on the tax payers dime are getting a little old. Plus with a newly renovated cottage Justin can’t have old boats for entertaining.

PS. Got enough money for a jet? Or two? Justin’s jets are getting old and he needs new ones.
