You have to be not too swift to “punish” one order of government for the “sins” of another. Makes absolutely no political sense, but I suppose people will be people. Often exceptionally petty but mostly woefully uninformed. No wonder our governments are positively so swell.
In my book, a big counteroffensive to “take” Crimea is far more destabilizing and likely to enlarge the war’s scope than attacks on Russian border villages by whomever. The Russian navy will not be landlocked, come hell or high water for them, not to mention all of the rest of us.
Most people in most societies just aren’t very nice, most of the time. Hence, the ever-increasing number of haters just looking for convenient scapegoats. The useful scapegoats come and go, but the haters remain constant, at least until God gets to them individually on judgment day.
Léger is just one poll. However, it’s the job of the leader, his MPs, Senators, party workers and political strategists to make damned sure that this one poll remains just one poll. We don’t need a “confirmed” downdraft in support.
It will come back in the fall because other G7 and NATO governments want Trudeau out, period. That’s a lot of enemies gunning for China’s useful idiot.
IF someone destroyed documents that’s definitely our version of obstruction of justice and that means almost certainly jail time. My advice to the person responsible is from now on, you would do well to always stay as close as possible to the toilet, cause the serial shits are definitely coming, to say the very least.
Poilievre is afraid he’ll lose votes to the PPC, which explains why he hasn’t gone to the middle. He obsesses about themes that seem stupid, but it’s because he is trying to retain votes that would otherwise leak to the PPC.
We have very little chance of winning if we get only our own vote and that of the PPC. We need to broaden the tent to include Blue Liberals and independents. Without a good percentage of both of those, how can we win?
Hard for the conservatives, they move to the center and lose the right, hard for the Alberta NDP, they move to the center and lose the left. Hard for The UCP in Alberta, they move to the center and lose the right. In all cases it’s the fringe that wags the dog.
There is another reason why Alternation is good for democracy.
All political parties are corrupt. Once they take control of the government they use this opportunity to give themselves and their pals money, and take actions to ensure they stay in power by subverting our institutions and ethical standards. For example, when was the last time a federal politician resigned due to an ethics violation?
We we need to switch out the parties to disrupt this corruption.
My comedy relief for the day. The Toronto Daily Star is a ridiculous newspaper anyway but this was laugh out loud roll on the floor funny on so many levels.
“Reason over passion, Pierre Trudeau believed. His son, Justin, is the same, seeking out his opponents to talk, never losing his cool, cherishing women’s rights, science, futurism prep, all those good things. He gets less American by the day.”
Heather Mallick likely summarizing how a lot of Toronto women feel about him.
Shouldn’t every public servant involved in the Bernardo decision be fired with extreme prejudice? What could they possibly have been thinking? I mean wtf?! Don’t these people read? I can provide some helpful links.
I’m assuming this is a NPB decision. In short, given the victims’ families views, this decision should never have been taken and definitely needs to be reversed. Absolutely no doubt about that.
I imagine that it’s a relatively safe bet that the answer will serially be No when the question of eventual parole comes up.
So some people in this bunch. I know the former chief of police from Brantford used to be on the NPB and he would not have permitted this to happen in a million years. He was also appointed by Harper but I digress.

Just watching the CBC interview(attempted rehabilitation) of Dave on P and P. I guess the rules did not allow Larry Brock to play the video of the CTV QP interview of Dave when he talks about how he and Justin were such BFFs. But there is nothing stopping the CBC from playing it and asking him WTF. Dave was either lying then or he is lying now. This is a joke.
For about a month or so in 2003 Jean Chretien was PM and Dalton McGuinty was Premier of Ontario. There was a great picture of the two of them in the Star during that brief period. Master and student etc…. Chretien looked satisfied in that moment. I think he knew who was really succeeding him as the Liberal king pin in Canada.
As someone who has happily voted for and donated to all three major parties, the damned truth is that:
….the NDP are the most honest and straightforward on human rights, worker’s issues and healthcare.
….the Tories are often the only party looking out for the tax payer and stand against ridiculous, wasteful public spending…. caveat – when they are in opposition…. When they are in government – yikes!
…..the Liberals, at their best (IE not now) are usually the best compromise between these two extremes.
One party Provincially and a different party Federally is one of the hidden gems of Canadian politics.
The problem with our version of alternation is that it takes too long to punish the parties that won’t behave at the level where they should be punished-we have an 8 year and counting example of that now. Leaders are basically dictators. I prefer the US version of alternation where they actually have to negotiate in real time like they just did over the debt ceiling. I count at least 6 different power bases that were involved in that. No one was happy and that means it was the right result.
Warren,

Warren,
Sure, the Senate is far more independent. Not that it often helps them. Getting overruled by the Commons generally ain’t no fun.

Johnston has absolutely no credibility now. How can it get any worse?
Trudeau will never concede. Both for political and quite obviously, OTHER reasons which shall remain nameless. Take a guess. That’s it!
So, force the fucking election in the Commons and let’s finally get on with it. It’s long overdue.

Bernier still hasn’t convinced The Manitoba Sasquatch to vote PPC. Enough said.
Today, June 4 is the anniversary of the Tiananmen Square protest and massacre. Did I miss Justin’s comments on the massacre?
Did any Liberal cabinet Minister note the anniversary of the Tiananmen Massacre?
And Jagmeet Singh was also silent on The Tiananmen Massacre anniversary.
But he did tweet about the Golden Temple Massacre in India.

Had some Drug Church but not Weed Pin. Good stuff.
First the said the document tracking records showed who saw what. Now they say they don’t exist.

Either someone was lying, or they’ve destroyed the records.
Jagmeet Singh; what are the Liberals hiding? And why are the New Democrats helping the Liberals hide it?
Peter,

What you see as the middle.

Must see TV tomorrow. It will be interesting to see if the Liberals will let Larry Brock ask “mean” questions of Dave.

QuickDickMcDick is a better Jimmy Junior Olsen than David Cochrane.

Big, big fan of alternation.

David Johnston uses Trudeau excuse #32: “These allegations are false”
But then Johnston had 10 million reasons to support Trudeau.
Sexual harassment at the Trudeau Foundation?

Given Justin’s record, is this surprising?
I wouldn’t believe it, given the source.
