Does this hurt Trudeau in the eyes of the public? Not really.
Does this risk further volatility from a guy who is known to be a bit of an emotional wild card anyway? You bet your Justice Minister it does!
PS – Case in point, Trudeau’s gaffe in Hamilton about housing not being a federal responsibility (queue the attack ad!) is clear evidence of the latter already taking shape.
This is the part I don’t really like when speculation starts to run amok. I can’t stand this guy but whether they get divorced or not should be the least of my concerns. As they say, Que Sera, Sera.
1. This analysis is 100% correct. I don’t think for a moment that any of this will harm JT’s poll numbers. If anything, played wisely, it will boost his poll #s
2. Left / Centre Left folks who too easily dismiss the Toronto Sun as a silly tabloid….. Take note of the seriousness / journalistic responsibility with which they are approaching these issues. Further, take note of the fact they are discussing their process publicly.
I’ve heard rumors of this since 2019. Wonder what the strategists have in store by announcing this now:
1) Give Trudeau an opportunity for graceful exit (ex. “Not running again so that he can focus on family”)
2) Re-invigorate his image and draw on the mystique of the Trudeau brand by freeing him to date some 20 or 30 something American or Quebecois celebrity
“This brings us to the biggest political question in the country: Would Justin Trudeau be arrogant enough to drive his party off a cliff by clinging to power in the name of seeking political immortality? Is his self-regard so high he believes he can ultimately beat Mr. Poilievre, regardless of how far behind the federal Conservative Leader he may be at the start of the next election race?”
And what was most despicable about all of that was that it was fellow Conservatives who couldn’t wait to dish the so-called dirt whether I was interested or not (which I mostly wasn’t). So many Quebec CPC members are congenital Mémères. Busybodies.
Yes Ronald, we eat our young. We always have. The Liberals used to do the same. Given what NOT eating your young has given us, is not being a non thinking blindly loyal cult follower such a bad thing?
I partially agree with Warren on this:

At the very least, he must be contemplating an exit.
But if he does exit, you can be sure that there’s a comeback plan … just like his Dad.
Mason in the Globe covered this the other day.

Does anyone think he won’t? As usual, his behaviour is strikingly similar to the T south of the border.
Drive the party off the cliff?
Of course, he would because … if he’s going down, he’s taking everyone with him.
SOME Canadians don’t like the personal and will leave the kids and spouse out of it. Others not so much. Their mileage varies.

Argument at the time was that Harper was using the kids as props so it was fair game and Ben became cannon fodder.
I won’t even get into the shite people were saying about Laureen.
It sure would be nice if it worked both ways. From our pragmatic and non partisan network.

Martin,
They would argue they represent the discipline of power, except YouKnowWho probably doesn’t even remotely know how to spell it…
To put it kindly, the Trudeau government is, at best, clueless and erratic, on a good day.
