Glad to hear about what Warren’s daughter thinks about the acknowledgments. I don’t how many times it gets said in a day but I have always thought if organizations donated 10o.00 to some indigenous cause every time they said it, you likely could raise some real money. Andrew Coyne is a contrary indicator. If he is reaching for the smelling salts, Moe’s idea is a winner. Don’t beat yourself up over it. It wasn’t arrogance that made you think you likely wouldn’t be seriously affected, it was your professional training as a journalist, which is hard to disconnect from, given the objectivity and personal desensitization of that kind of training. In that way, journalists are much like your Dad and other medical professionals, you either serially detach and become dispassionate or you seriously risk going crazy, or worse.

The psychology of a demonstration is definitely not of the masses controlling the few. It’s basically the other way around. The few are in charge and know perfectly well what to do to run roughshod over the masses. That’s why nothing ever changes at those types of demonstrations. Intimidation, threats, etc. are the order of the day courtesy of the few who are actually running things during that so-called protest. Only the cops can clean up those with inappropriate flags or remarks and they aren’t there for municipal “political” reasons.

One bigger story you are all missing or maybe this could be part of another episode… There are a lot of crimes not being responded to / going without charges these days. Police are exhausted by the homelessness / drugs / mental health mess. The court system is overloaded and can’t handle it all. The racist / anti-Semitic crimes should indeed be the top of the agenda. However it is a bigger problem than that.
