I’m hopeful the current debacle at universities across North America is the tipping point for major changes overall at these institutions.
For a decade or more, universities have moved away from their role as places for higher learning and open debate – and towards extremist views and shutting-down of anything that contradicts the politically-correct narrative.
As witness the recent grotesque med school valedictorian speech at the University of Manitoba, where rather than a unifying uplifting theme, the speech became an anti-Israel diatribe. And suddenly there was all sorts of “free speech” defense of this nonsense. I’m sure that came as surprising news to the countless number of groups who’ve had their events cancelled because one of the speakers had the “wrong” views. Guess the free speech only applies if you have the trendy views?
