The fact that Justin has appointed 82 senators means that if Pierre wins, we are likely headed for a constitutional crisis unless people like Charles remind them they should have no power. He is also stacking the civil service. Last month, we lost 42000 full time private sector jobs but somehow needed 41,000 new civil servants. I keep waiting for them to unwind the “temporary” covid spending which was the go to excuse before for increased hiring and spending.
When it all ends next year, the Trudeau government’s legacy will be that of a leader that chronically bribed people with their own money and never paid out. The civil service is the most obvious example.
Where I get pissed is that these civil servants are never hired for areas we could actually use them in. I bet we all know at least one immigrant family affected negatively by a government that made a big splashy announcement of peace and love and welcome to Canada for people from their homeland, but then didn’t provide any basic means for them to actually get through the immigration system… or worse, bumped a longstanding permanent residency applicant out of the line in order to get said paperwork done for the newcomers.
The usual suspects probably fear a Javier Milei type purge but that will never happen. Might as well do it though because the reaction to letting a few people retire without replacing them will be precisely the same.
Fair enough interview given Adler is a close friend of yours, but would have loved a little follow up on the intellectual honesty of the concept of being fully independent while being fully opposed to the man who will replace the man who gave him his appointment.
Apparently now there is a request from the Manitoba Chiefs to rescind Adler’s appointment, because of remarks he made 25 years ago. Remarks which even the CBSC deemed were fair political commentary (they were critiques of certain Indigenous leaders).
This is how Canada operates now. Special-interest groups decide they want to destroy someone, for things done decades ago which they themselves deem “offensive”.
We think we are a free and open society, but in reality most Canadians sit cowering in the corner, pushed into fear that they might say or do something that offends the powerful lobbies that truly run the country now. Because those lobbies have the power to ruin lives at their whim.
I am surprised there are not more if the Tru-anons were consistent. Pierre is still being held to account for comments he made in 2008 for which he has apologized and paid a heavy price in caucus. JUST YESTERDAY someone posted something on X about it. And I am sure the ads are ready to run. .

A lot of UFWD Liberal civil servants will have to be fired

Charles…. sigh…. Katie Telford IS the boss. You have to do what she says or you’ll get JWR’d.
Wondering if Trudeau will appoint Warren Kinsella to the Senate?
Not even if he finally admitted he cannot read.
Did Warren apply and get beat out by his fiend?
Ha-friend.
