Interest rate cuts: over. Rates up to save CAD: likely. 65¢ dollar: yep. Consumer spending choked off: unavoidable. Big layoffs: ditto. Alberta oil (#1 export): crushed.

I don’t buy it. The Republican establishment is way to committed to free trade. They aren’t going to stand aside and tolerate the hit to their own pocket books…. all for the sake of MAGA – which means nothing to them. They only put up with Trump / MAGA as a temporary election gimmick and that time is now over. These naïve statements are only inching Republicans further towards siding with Democrats for an impeachment conviction and I’m starting to suspect that may happen even before the mid terms.
Not to mention that we need to watch what he does not what he says. He certainly has everyone’s attention. Which is maybe the point. This could be just about breaking the dairy and poultry cartel which is not necessarily a bad thing.
