Your older generation failed us. While you sit in your nice houses, the rest of us face no housing, uncontrolled migration, horrible healthcare, and limited job opportunities. Most of our natural resources are locked up in environmental red tape and indigineous land agreements. Pierre Poilievre won’t change a thing due to an obstructionist Senate and far-left activist judges on the courts. After Pierre leaves, the Liberals will change the electoral system to benefit them only. They will re-introduce draconian online hate speech legislation. They will seize all remaining firearms and seek to stamp out any public dissent against their socialist vision. So tell me why I care about saving Canada from Trump? I welcome the idea of joining the 51st state. Our taxes will drop. Our freedom will continue and socialism will be defeated once again. The joke is that you idiots supported open borders for decades, and now you are suddenly nationalists? Too funny.
On the public service-of course it needs to be reduced and just letting folks retire is the least harmful way to do it. The public service was ramped way up to deal with Covid. I have news-last I looked, it’s over. So why hasn’t in been wound down? And it would have already started at an elevated level.
It’s just math.
x=(2k^{m}+P)/n
x – number of new employees to be hired annually
k – number of employees who want to be promoted by hiring new employees
m – number of working hours per person for the preparation of internal memoranda (micropolitics)
P – difference: age at hiring − age at retirement
n – number of administrative files actually completed
Using data from almost 3 years ago, 17,000 retirements would save TWENTY ONE BILLION. And that is just direct wages and benefits and does not include other related costs.
Pierre wants Carney to commit to not keeping any of Trudeau’s ministers. Talk about a classic dead letter. But at least it’s effective in showing that even if you change the guy at the top, the rest of the Trudeau Liberal government remains the same.
Trump demands respect but no one with a fully functioning brain is capable of respecting such an absolute imbecile. But at least we can pretend when we’re forced to deal with this nutcase.
Agree with everything Pierre said but to be fully and quickly effective, our retaliatory tariffs have to be DOUBLE the dollar value that the American tariffs are. Dollar for dollar is woefully insufficient to make sure that Trump gets the message loud and clear.
Agree that tariffs would have to be double the US level to even get their attention, so it’s not a feasible response. The Americans value protection of their intellectual property above all things so we should look at suspending copyright protection on US inventions, culture, etc. The Donald would blow a gasket watching a Canadian company producing something based on US R&D without compensation to the copyright owner.
Here’s another proposed tariff response for all the lawyers to contemplate. Issue regulation that police and judiciary are forbidden to act on Canadian individuals and corporations for non violent white collar crime in any jurisdiction that maintains anti competitive regulations against Canada. IE permit fraud, larceny, bribery, etc. when not done in Canada.
Sure, Carney could win but we would have to blow our own campaign right out of the water. It would take a devastating mistake on Pierre’s part and I don’t see that in the cards. Some of our support is soft, no question about it because it was based on anyone but Trudeau. But Pierre is no fool. He will find ways to firm up that support while proving to the voting public that the NewLiberalEmperorTM really does have no clothes or political qualifications to be prime minister.
I oppose any kind of a new BRICS bloc. If we ally ourselves with China or any other hostile countries to the United States, that would definitely provoke a military response on Canadian soil from the Americans. It would be a national security imperative. So, with respect for John, that is definitely not the way to go. The Western hemisphere is America’s playground. Like it or not.
Trump doesn’t give a shit about the American people. It’s only all about Trump and what’s best for Elon and Company. So there is no way in hell that Trump will change his mind. The tariffs are already a sure thing.
Agree that roughly a third of the CPC membership like or support Trump. But Pierre isn’t stupid. He will make damned sure that none of our MPs toe that line, either publicly or privately. That is critical to the future election win. Warren references Randy White in 2004. If that happens again in this election cycle, it would be a devastating blow to our election chances. So, caucus has to be nailed to the wall on this before the writ is dropped or the government is defeated.
Pierre has to show he’s CPC leader. Not some guy who lets Smith hold sway over his future government. It’s up to her to get in line, not the reverse. Otherwise, we’ve already blown the election in Ontario and elsewhere. And even worse, played right into Carney’s hands.
I’ve always felt that his relationship with smith, and their shared jovial embrace of the extreme right – well that would be his undoing – too close to the radical right
Fords win in Ontario sets the stage for a Liberal win Federally – if not for Trump we’d be singing a different song, but nobody trusts PP to deal with Trump.

Ok. Vote for what you feel is best. Personally I would have choose Chairman Mao over Stalin as Mao promised he was a changed man and was planning sone sort of a cultural revolution.
They can’t be that stupid. The convoy was about lawlessness and disrespect for the rule of law and public order. Trump tariffs don’t fit the bill at all. The Liberals would lose in the courts.
Keep getting some funky stuff at the top of your page on my devices:

Funny how this started as soon as your temporary status began. Someone out there is awfully thinned skinned and lacks self-confidence and self-esteem. I wonder who that could be?
Ha-don’t think it has anything to do with me trolling the Liberal race. Battiste out and he was my second choice. Ruby all the way now! Mraz is helping her, isn’t he?

Look, everyone, it’s Little Hitler.
Warren,
Hum. What a choice for Canada’s future: center-right, center-left or lastly, DemonSeedTM government. I know which one I’ll choose.
The best thing will be a huge increase in mass shootings, right Josh?
You forgot to mention that one.
Damn. That sucks:

Read that again slowly.

Paige,
Kudos.
I hope to find out that you will be advising a Poilièvre government, hopefully not in the too-distant future.

I think for them to be effective you need a leader who can muster an international response.
On that note. This is so cute:

I think Carny can win too. Fords gonna win in Ontario, then they’ll vote liberal federally because nobody trust PP to deal with Trump
I will give you 1000 to 1 odds Carny won’t win.
Martin,
I don’t know. The fix looks already to be in to me.
Carny is not on the ballot.
Martin,
Looks like I need to catch up.
You mean a different C?
Warren,
Pierre is listening to a cross-section of CPC opinion and other sources and that can only be to his betterment.
Warren,
I oppose any kind of a new BRICS bloc. Nonsense.
Curious,
If you were Pierre, which one would you choose? Embracing Smith or winning the country? I know which one Pierre will choose.
Warren,
Ford will lose seats. The question is how many?
Fords win in Ontario sets the stage for a Liberal win Federally – if not for Trump we’d be singing a different song, but nobody trusts PP to deal with Trump.
Nobody? Nonsense.
Warren,
As I said over at my place, who in his right mind calls a winter election? Et, voilà.
Exchanging Trudeau with Freeland or Carney is like shitting your pants and then changing your shirt.
So, have your say:

Probably a fair statement. My X account appears to have been locked a day after i made it so I cannot read this. Meh. Have a good one.
Oh ffs. They will use this to somehow declare an emergency and push off the election until October 2026.

Ronald, you really think they AREN’T that stupid? They don’t care if they will lose in the courts.

We are on it. Apologies to all.
Warren,
It’s likely not on your end at all. It’s a third party who is trying to cause a DoS for commenters. How familiar.
Martin,

He quit. Wisely.
Just watching Joly describe her two “important” meetings. Which implies, of course, that she has lots of
“unimportant” meetings.
Martin,
I hear she meets most regularly with the Prime Minister.
The Liberals are flossing about the fact that 400k signed up. Hilarious.
