This is a great ad and a great idea. I know lots of folks that won’t sell stuff because of the tax hit and definitely would if this goes through.

Do you really think, Martin, that Poilievre has any credibility when he talks about the economy – with his bachelor of political science I think from
The university of Calgary? That’s a weak spot when he’s running against a guy whose been in charge of two central banks and has all kinds of real world experience in the private sector – there’s a serious knowledge and experience gap – I’m as qualified as Poilievre for Christ sake and nobody wants to take economic advice from me – Poilievre repeats ideological talking points but he has no grasp of the economy he’s almost never been part of – since his only real job was a paper route.

      • Martin Dixon says:

Elon Musk has a ton of real world experience as does Trump. What exactly is your point? If you think Carney is going to do anything but make his very wealthy BFFs increase their wealth even more than they have the last 10 years, you are very very naive. One of the reasons I won’t be too upset if the polls hold. Nice consolation prize.

And he has had other jobs other than a paper route and I crack up when that gets pulled out, anyway. I was one and odds are you were too. It is a very snobby put down and you don’t strike me as a snob. Because I HAD to be one if I wanted any spending money at all. Learned a lot. The fact that someone like Trudeau was not a paper boy(unless his mom drove him around) is actually unfortunate. Maybe he would have learned thing or two about the value of a buck. If I were interviewing two people who were both equal and one was a paper boy and one wasn’t, guess which one I would hire.

And finally, if Pierre is so incompetent, why is Carney basically stealing all his ideas that seconds ago folks like you were attacking.

On this particular proposal, I literally have the receipts that it is a good idea.

        • Curious V says:

Yes Martin, Elon musk and Trump have real world experience- like just about everybody aside from Pierre Poilievre – he is one of the only people I can think of who has no real world
          Experience

        • Curious V says:

There’s nothing inherently wrong with having a paper route. It’s a good thing when young people get some part time work – i sure did. The issue is that this is his only experience, and he wants top be the prime minister – not qualified

      • Dawn Mills says:

PP had a least 2 jobs then, one as a paper boy as you note and the other as an continually reelected MP. We continually allow lawyers and teachers to play as Prime Ministers so why not a Poli Sci grad? I suggest an economist might be the worst kind of PM as they have no clue about how things work in the real world once they step out of their ivory or Bay St towers. As a grad of the UofC (like our host too), your gratuitous comment says volumes about your argument.

        • Martin Dixon says:

He also started his own business, which, just for the record, Carney never has. The fact he took down a cabinet minister at age 24/25 by working his ass off should not go unremarked upon either.

          • Warren says:

            Poilievre started a business?

          • Martin Dixon says:

            3D Contact Inc.

          • Warren says:

He’s going to say he worked for a robocalling outfit for a few months? He’d be promoting that if it wasn’t a liability, I think.

          • Martin+Dixon says:

I understand but Carney hasn’t even done that. And that isn’t all it did and to flip that around, if it were, there would be even more online about it than there is. Robo-calling(even if that was all it did) did not become illegal until 2005 two years after he started the company. You and I both know that incorporating a company and all that comes with it is not a simple task. Maybe he would have kept it going if he would not have taken down that Cabinet Minster which likely even surprised him. The fact remains he has done more than just be a paper boy(not that that should be mocked anyway).

        • Martin Dixon says:

And this quote is LITERALLY on point:

“I’d rather entrust the government of the United States to the first 400 people listed in the Boston telephone directory than to the faculty of Harvard University.”

          William F. Buckley, Jr.

      • Martin Dixon says:

If Carney is such a genius, why hasn’t he fired Paul Chiang yet.

  2. Sean says:

Bounty Hunters! We don’t need their scum!

  3. Wink Dinkerson says:

Any debate Carney does not show up for the Conservatives should put up s cardboard cut out of him behind the podium so they can ask it questions.

  4. Martin Dixon says:

I have always said if you aren’t willing to step up, you have no right to complain:
