Global report: the wheels are coming off the Tory campaign

A sampling:

“They did not prepare. The ground game is a complete and utter mess,” the source added, referring to the campaign’s organization and communication with local candidates.

    Chicken little stuff.

A Liberal just advised his supporters to kidnap his Conservative opponent and deliver him to the PRC consulate for a bounty.

  2. Warren,

At least Teneycke has the guts to go on the record. Me too. No wonder they’re going nowhere with Byrne at the helm…tell us, Pierre how long will it take before Byrne once again prematurely heads back to Ottawa?

  3. Pierre,

We can either be winners or losers: keep this bunch and down you will go. It’s as simple as that. You won’t listen to any of us here so so be it.

  4. Warren,

Hum. Forbes estimating LyingAssCarney’sTM wealth in 2023 at 96 BILLION.

    Interesting, don’t you think?

  5. Warren,

Got that wrong. My apologies. The 96 BILLION is Bloomberg’s wealth.

  6. Warren,

Can it get any worse? Don’t underestimate Byrne.

    Mainstreet: Liberals +3;

    Angus Reid: Liberals +11…

  7. Pedant says:

They’re at 38-40% in the polls. 90% of their support from December is still there and, according to Angus Reid, CPC are by far the most committed and least likely to swayed to another party.

I don’t see what they could have done given that Trump seems determined to sabotage right-leaning leaders elsewhere in the western world.

At 6-7% the NDP has bottomed out. Fairly confident it cannot possibly go lower. That means any juice to be squeezed from the NDP (and Bloc) to the Liberals has run dry. With Trump now tempering his remarks, a new phase of the campaign begins.

Pedant: That’s actually a really important point I think people are missing. Yes, maybe the Tories are behind, but if you can hold on to 38%, that’s pretty impressive especially if the narrative is forming that your already done.

It tells me that there are 5% or so Blue Liberals / Red Tories who are sticking with Poilievre for the moment. Which is about 25% of those people I think.

No one should under estimate the Tories at this point. I think most of the Liberal gains are NDP / BQ switchers who are really frightened by Trump. Don’t gorget those folks have only lived in the Liberal camp for a few weeks. They can easily walk away. Way to early to count the Tories out IMO.

Could tell from the outset they weren’t prepared for a new leader – and they weren’t prepared for Trump, and they didn’t pivot

  9. Look, Pedant, Pierre was far too late to criticize Trump. That left an impression, which perhaps was inaccurate, that he was to some unspoken degree pro-Trump and didn’t want to rock the boat à la disastrous Smith. You know better than anyone else that silence IMPLIES consent. Pierre should have been going at that bastard with all guns blazing from the get-go. He didn’t, so now people are putting their faith in a poor excuse for a prime minister who’s not qualified to hold that job. Carney is way out of his depth, but likely voters are giving him a pass. Had the leader been far more forceful much earlier, we would still be closely competitive instead of the Liberals on track to run away with this race. That buck stops on Pierre’s desk. Period.
