Usually I wait until the end of the podcast before I make a comment but no one is going to REALLY let Art get away with not disclosing his financial situation before he becomes PM, are they? Curious, you ok with that? Any other fans of Art care to weigh in?
Kind of depends on how the great yet-to-vote feel about it. Most won’t have a clue, and convention requires disclosure only once you’re elected. Obviously, Carney doesn’t want the masses to know how rich he really is before he fills the big job and is elected in his own right. Will a rogue element at CRA give him the Coderre treatment? I think not.
Yes but this is someone who MAY be stepping into the role of PM. A bit differeent. If people can’t see an exception should be made, we deserve what we get.
Agreed Carney should fully disclose, but he won’t. If people knew the exact extent of his wealth that would work against him. My estimate is that he’s worth about seventeen million.
Perception is nine-tenths of the law. I see no evidence that Pierre is pro-Trump but what I do see is a lack of sufficiently strong statements on Trump and his goings on. Right now, the Trump Litmus Test has not been met — at least according to most of the politicos — but will the citizenry draw the same conclusion? It depends. If my name was Pierre, I would take Warren’s advice: better speaking too strongly against Trump than too reservedly.
Starmer is in full damage control trying to repair his own relationship with Trump. He went to Khiv last January and signed security guarantees for Ukraine under a 100-year agreement that provides the UK with Ukraine’s natural resources, AKA critical minerals. That infuriated Trump because the UK outfoxed the USA. So, that’s the background on why Starmer prefers to be gutless when it comes to one of his fellow Commonwealth members.
Trump wants NO TRADE DEAL with Canada and Mexico and that’s precisely where this thing is going after he repeatedly imposes and raises tariffs against Canada and Mexico. It’s coming as sure as I’m breathing.
An Arctic power should have nuclear-powered submarines, but what’s the point in our case, given that our so-called ally considers the Northwest Passage international waters? Canada, from their perspective, would be protecting international waters instead of its own sovereign territory and waters. So, fuck nuke subs. And besides, we aren’t even part of AUKUS.
Pretty damn close. I saw some ridiculous panel on the CBC on election night and they were trying to look at the bright side for the NDP and the Liberals and it was funny to watch.
The King can comment but not directly. He can speak about the strong ties between Canada and the UK and add how this relationship relates to the one with the US but he can’t go further than that.
We’ve got to get real: the Liberals have to and will play down and dirty to win against us, the CPC. The Liberals always do whatever it takes to win. That’s why they win mostly. So expect the Carney campaign to know no bounds to win. Hopefully, they won’t if Pierre and the CPC have better strategic thinkers in their corner. IF. Haven’t seen any of those people so far. It’s not Pierre or Byrne who can outmanoeuver the Carney Liberals.
Agree that behind the scenes, the domestic political situation in Ukraine is slowly drifting in the direction of a Putin-sympathetic government. Some are willing to pay that price to relatively quickly end the war. War fatigue has bolstered Putin’s objectives within Ukraine. Plus, Putin gets a bonus: it kills future NATO membership in the egg.
American gravity nuclear bombs are currently deployed in Belgium, The Netherlands, Italy, Turkey and Germany. They could be rendered operational using the F-35.

Martin,

He made ten million at Brookfield.
Yes but this is someone who MAY be stepping into the role of PM. A bit differeent. If people can’t see an exception should be made, we deserve what we get.
Martin,

If that is all he is worth after the career he has had, I have lots of questions.
Warren,

Warren,
189 million dollars later and Ford wins one more seat than he had. I rest my case.
Warren,
Trump wants NO TRADE DEAL with Canada and Mexico and that’s precisely where this thing is going after he repeatedly imposes and raises tariffs against Canada and Mexico. It’s coming as sure as I’m breathing.
Yeah that’s weird, I thought he was Mr. Dealmaker.
Guess that was all a bunch of steaming BS.
Warren,

Warren,
Poor Ford. His personal vanity project didn’t give him all that he wanted…

Canada needs to dump the monarchy and get rid of its colonial mentality. Who cares what the king thinks?

France and the UK will preposition nukes in Germany if Trump withdraws his. That’s the best we can do other than to go to outright war with Russia.
Warren,

Warren,
We will know that we’re on the verge of war when various NATO nations move towards increased conscription and national mobilisation.
Oh, my God…Ipsos: Liberals at 38%.
Karl is already predicting a Liberal win. Hope not.
Nice tribute to Buster. You sure can tell who inspired Mike Ness and Social Distortion.
I assume that the Tru-anons will go back to their original playbook of calling Harper a fascist:
“In letter to Conservative Party members, Stephen Harper says Mark Carney is taking credit for work he didn’t do in the financial crisis.”

Martin,
What? A Liberal spouting falsehoods? Well, I never!
Gilbert,
It takes unanimity to get rid of the monarchy which means we never will. Quebec will block it because of patriation without its consent.
