—My latest: the State of the Union – and the state of us
I had resolved that I was not going to watch the State of the Union freak show.
Why bother? The Mango Mussolini wasn’t going to be anything other than what he is: a lying, corrupt, venal, racist, raping felon. One who has declared war on us, per Warren Buffett, and is going to send Canada twisting into a recession. Life is too short. What’s the point?
And then I heard from an MP friend, who had been similarly clobbered by the plague that has been going around. (In my case: days of hacking, dry cough, fever, muscle pain and zero appetite.) We commiserated for a while, and then she urged me to watch Trump’s rant, so I could dutifully provide commentary.
So, I did, at least for a while. I watched as much as I could stomach.
First to arrive was the erstwhile First Lady, looking like a commuter who had gotten off at the wrong stop. Watching Melania, I figured I would have given her a standing ovation, too, simply because she has to endure Trump at close range.
Next to arrive was the Ketamine King, the evil elflord, Musk Himself. He had the eyes of a dead fish. He is a crypto-Nazi with the soul of some discarded computer parts.
Then came Trump’s cabinet, grifters and drunks and conspiracy theorists all, looking like the kickoff to a freakish Amway convention in the Ozarks. Hillbillies and hicks, puffed up with Botox and Bennies.

It’s quite interesting, I think, to check out the Breitbart comments section today. Normally they are 100% behind Trump no matter what and brook no dissent, to say the least. But on tariffs it’s very mixed and they’re actually arguing with one another. Trump and the Republicans are politically vulnerable on this one. Unlike with the border, DEI etc
He’s completely detached from reality. Informed by propaganda so much so he believes it / he’s delusional – whether it’s Zelensky, or his embrace of Putin, or his love affair with tariffs – he’s not getting balanced thoughtful advice from, say, the situation room – he’s just consuming reams of propaganda from
The Russians and kooky economic advisors – this is just so unsettling
Ir any of you have read the situation room, it says a lot about each president, and the section about Trump is especially telling. He doesn’t trust their governments most trusted employees – the most competent and capable employees and he doesn’t trust them – yet he’s buddy buddy with Putin, he says they’ve gone through a lot together – I wonder what’s happening in the situation room right now ?
You evidently saw exactly the same speech I watched! I haven’t tuned in today. Is it over yet?
If Trump were only delusional, there may be an out. I feel the man is bought and paid for by the Russian oligarchy.
Midterms can’t come soon enough I’m a conservative Trump ain’t he is a maniacal con man
Phil,
It’s more like bought and blackmailed.
Warren,
In my case, watching thirty seconds would have been too much.
Ever notice how pro and anti Trumpers yell at each other for spreading fake news while spreading fake news.
Oh, I think the pro-Trumpers have the edge in that little contest.
Oh no doubt but it seems the the distance is closing sometimes.
Actually no it isn’t.
