Poilievre is losing

It’s shocking how unphased my CPC staffer freinds are about this. None of them think that Carney is worth shit and all of them think he’ll lose badly.

    I don’t get it.

They all think that the debates will swing it back their way

    • Sean says:

Debates! Hah! When Conservatives are clinging to debates, we know it’s almost over.

    • Martin Dixon says:

Apropos of nothing perhaps but Republican insiders and staffers knew Harris was going to lose. Personally(locally) I worry even when we have a big polling lead.

    • Martin Dixon says:

Or maybe Just let Art keep talking like he did yesterday. Iggy likely even said WTF. And, on Iggy, he only kicked in 500.00 to Art’s campaign while all the rest of the usual suspects kicked in 1750.00.

    • Douglas+W says:

I’m getting the same vibe from Conservative strategists.
It feels like they confidently believe that they have the ballot-box question that will lead to an election win.
Problem: they have to ensure that their ballot-box question WILL be the ballot-box question.
      Roll of the dice.

    • The Doctor says:

Denial can be strong among political partisans.

  2. Curious V says:

In Carney people see a sound, pragmatic and intelligent manager – somebody you can trust in the top job

Poilievre is a Carnival Act – stupid annoying slogans, offensive – like when he’s talking at you over a beer he’s spitting in your face while he rages about whatever the latest idiotic conspiracy is.

    • Martin Dixon says:

Did you watch Art at his presser yesterday when someone had the nerve to ask him a thing or two about his net worth(something he should be able to disclose by pushing a button if he is actually as bright as you seem to think he is but I digress). To quote one of your NDP friends on P and P., Brad Lavigne, he basically sounded like a guy that came down from on high to deign to help us. I don;t know what people you are referring to but they aren’t paying attention if that is what they see.

      • Warren says:

        Yes. He was terrible.

Nobody gets the Art thing, my friend.

        • Martin Dixon says:

          Ha ha ha.

        • Warren,

You aren’t a fan of small shovels. On this one, I want to dig out the big shovels and dig until I drop dead. There’s Carney Kryptonite in them dar hills.

        • Sean says:

I get it, but I had to look it up… which means it isn’t a thing. Anything that requires research from voters isn’t a political issue. Quote me on that and I’ll charge $1,000 bucks each time you do.

          • Martin Dixon says:

So my cleaning lady shows up today-she has a 50 year old son so maybe she is 5 years older than me. She was bitching about the polls and was complaining about ART Carney. With no sense of irony. She literally got him mixed up with the guy from The Honeymooners. Now it did run for only one season(55-56) but it probably is still in reruns somewhere.

Her son and daughter in law are both around 50 and also conservatives. As I have previoulsy mentioned, the NDP hate the Liberals in Brant(and for good reason given their latest “saviour”), so I suspect we will be fine.

          • Martin,

We both will be fine in our respective ridings because compared to most constituencies, we happen to be loaded. Lucky us! My CPC MP is always smiling. No wonder.

    • Martin Dixon says:

And on that point, if Butts is going to be the guy that will prep Art for the debates with the expectation that he will perform better than in his earlier interaction with Pierre then he has not started his job yet or Art is not listening to him or maybe his skills are overrated. The questions to him about his net worth should have been anticipated but he came across as smug, arrogant, condescending and like someone who was hiding something. How dare the peasants not appreciate the sacrifice he is making for us.

    • Douglas+W says:

Carney did not have a good day yesterday, when peppered with questions.
Learning to do politics on the fly will mean more days like yesterday for the Banker.

  3. Steve T says:

I told my Conservative friends that this was going to be the result if Trump won and did what he was threatening to do. Many of them scoffed, suggesting that Trump’s actions in the U.S. would actually “legitimize” some things in Canada which many small-c conservatives would like to see happen (such as toning down the DEI nonsense on this side of the border). My Conservative friends didn’t like the other stuff Trump was threatening, but felt the overall impact in Canada would be to add to the CPC lead.
I have never been so unhappy to be correct in my life. It seems now likely that Carney will trigger an election as soon as possible, and has a good chance of winning. And then the Libs will revert back to all the things that caused them to fall out of favor with Canadians during the past 2 years. Because why not? Canadian voters repeatedly show themselves to be very easily influenced, with very short memories.

    • Martin Dixon says:

Why I kept saying it was ironic that the Liberal insiders were the ones that were hoping for a T win. The things folks will reduce themselves to to hang on to power.

  4. Douglas+W says:

    Call an election, please

  5. Warren,

Angus Reid is a shocker given, if memory serves, that the Conservatives usually poll higher in their polls than in some others.

  6. At least Liaison has the Liberals dropping. Better than nothing.

  7. Wink Dinkerson says:

Carney is flying high cause the media is not doing its job and scutenizing Carney. Rempel just posted him responding to a female reporter for a question that Pierre probably would have answered. He came off a petty, childish and just plain pissy. if you dont want her commentary ģo to the clip. He is not going to do well in the debates unless the media covers for him and I would bet money he may try to avoid the debates all together. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=RlYhuwfTL8s&pp=0gcJCU8JAYcqIYzv

    • The Doctor says:

Carney is flying high because the Conservatives had and still have no Plan B for when JT was no longer PM.

      • Martin Dixon says:

But the issue is not JT’s retirement. If T would not have won, I am pretty sure we would be fine. The Liberals gamed out and hoped for a T win. I guess we should have predicted they would go that low to keep p0wer. That was the mistake.

  8. Sean says:

Liberals should be concerned about peaking too early. These are obviously honeymoon polls. Carney will be in rough waters soon enough. We’ll know more in about three weeks when things get real.

  9. Intcord says:

I’m not sure if the orange toddler down south realizes it, but certainly the folk advising him are well aware of these number, and are probably happy as hell about them. If you think western separation is a fringe discussion now, (and having just spent some time in AB, I’m not sure it’s “fringe”), a Liberal win in the next federal election will remove all hope from conservative voters in AB and probably SK. If you want to talk about a 51st state, look at those two provinces after a federal Lib win, and you may well see the beginning of the breakup of Canada. I believe forces and advisors south of the border are very well aware of that and are doing everything they can to drive that result. Trump is no friend of PP either.

    • Curious+V says:

What if a liberal wins and builds a couple pipelines – another to the pacific, and one to the Atlantic. Albertans want public healthcare just like everybody else in Canada – when they suffer layoffs they collect EI like everybody else in Canada – when they retire they get a Canadian pension, like everybody else in Canada – Albertans and Saskatchewans are proud Canadians and I don’t think there’s any appetite for separation outside of a fringe group that wants to wag the dog –

      • Intcord says:

The lack of pipelines in any direction is one of the reasons it may no longer be a fringe discussion. And it’s hard to envision that the same Liberals who didn’t build any pipelines for the past 10 years, and in fact just shut down the Kitimat LNG terminal; is going to build pipelines now. And regarding public healthcare, it hardly exists any more. Alberta is just as bad as any other province. My daughter spent over 12 hours in the emergency room last week in Edmonton, waiting to see a doctor. She was the only person there for at least 50% of that time. One time, our healthcare system was one of the shining differences between Canada and the US. We can’t say that anymore. The wheels are wobbling. They may not have fallen off yet, but it won’t take much to push us over.

        • Curious V says:

The Liberals built the last pipeline, and it was the first in a long time. Apparently it’s doing very well for Alberta – so maybe the best bet to get pipelines built is the Liberal party – Harper, I should remind you, wasn’t successful in building any pipelines.

  10. Dink Winkerson says:

Wait till the debates when the media can’t hide his wonderful personality.

  11. John from Saskatoon says:

I think it’s still a dead cat bounce. Carney has yet to be tested and the couple times he has it’s not good. He is arrogant, angry when questioned and has been demeaning to reporters who ask those questions. He talks like an elite using ‘I’m smarter than you’ words. He acts like he’s doing us a favour by coming down from on high to save us. He can’t read a room. Canadians are angry about Trumps repeated annexation threats, skyrocketing Canadian pride, and he goes to Europe saying we’re basically Europeans. There were many reasons Trudeau was hated and Carney is projecting many of them. This election will have Canadians remember why they were angry and that all those issues are still here. They’ll remember the govt that is responsible for their struggles and the 10 years of bad policy that has made us vulnerable to Trump. Carney has a long history and I’d bet the Tories know it all. They’re keeping the big stuff for election time. He’s not going to know what hit him and when it does his response will make his attitude and behaviour towards Barton and Levitz yesterday will make him look like a political genius. Conservatives can sit back. Carney will kill his political aspirations himself.

  12. Curious V says:

Although to maintain this lead, Mr Carney is gonna have to do some media training – I appreciate that he isn’t a professional politician, it’s something I admire and really appreciate that he has so much private sector experience – it’s great for Canada, but for that to come to fruition he’s gonna have to deal with testy reporters – part of the job. Prime Minister – get some media training and better talking points. I want you to win, so get so please work on better talking points and media training – thanks –

    • Martin Dixon says:

Well no shit. And, just for the record , T had a lot of private sector experience too. So what. You are just assuming it was not problematic.
