    Warren hits the nail on the head – Poilievre gave the general population all kinds of reasons to dislike him, so they dislike him – no surprise. His base is a problem for him, forcing him into Trumpy exploits to please them, and in the process turn everybody else off.

    • Martin Dixon says:

      False. This was a black swan event. Read a newspaper and get off social media and Carney’s base is basically a bunch of grifting baby boomers trying to screw everyone under 40. I proud to be one of the baby boomers that isn’t. Your mileage clearly varies.

  2. Warren,

    If we lose, I will support Pierre continuing as leader. In the past, I never took that position. But this time, it should be all about revenge against those treacherous bastards — they know who they are. Their candidate must become persona non grata in this party. I will live and breath solely to keep their guy out of the leadership chair at any point in the future.

    • Derek Pearce says:

      I assume Ronald, you’re talking about Charest? I’m not very familiar with the inner workings of the CPC but did Tenycke work on his leadership bid? It’s not just Tenycke that’s been pointing these things out about PP…

      • Derek,

        I don’t want to zero in on any individual and shame name them. People are free to judge Kory’s speech as they see fit. I will concentrate on those so-called anonymous sources from within the PCPO. This feels like these leaks in the press were green-lighted. I could be wrong but it flowed as if it was green-lighted, or at least given a wink and a nod.

        • Martin Dixon says:

          I am not quite as circumspect as you Ronald. As someone who has worked reasonably hard raising money over the last 20 years and basically pays the salaries of traitors like Kory, it drives me bonkers when people who should know better sit on their hands and do even worse when their candidate doesn’t win a leadership campaign. You need to pick a side and if you want to criticize, you do it quietly.

  3. Warren,

    Léger: Liberals +7;

    Pallas Data: Liberals +7;

    Liaison: Liberals +6;

    Research Co.: Liberals +8.

    Frankly, I’m hoping these are Kamala Harris-type polls. In short, wrong.

  4. Warren,

    Forgive me if I take Robertson’s assessment of CPC crowds with a large grain of salt.

    • Martin Dixon says:

      Ronald, cut them in half then. They are still pretty big. Meanwhile the Liberals are flexing about a 2 block line up outside a 373 seat venue.

  5. Pedant says:

    How was Poilievre supposed to foresee that an entire generation would fall victim to yet another bout of hysteria like a crowd of branch davidians? I guess this is the winning Liberal strategy for the next decade. Liberals invent or overhype an external threat, whip up the elderly into hysterics, and present themselves as a kind of emotional security blanket. Milk this for all it’s worth because later generations do not have the same kind of cult-like attachment to one political brand.

    What’s the next threat? IMO Canada is on the precipice of a major bear market in housing. It began in mid 2022 and will accelerate by the end of this year through to the end of the decade and possibly beyond. Not even Liberal interventionism and Bank of Canada money printing will save it. This will prompt a wave of wailing from the Boomers as they demand the government compensate them for their unwillingness to sell in time. That will be next election’s wedge issue – do we bail out wealthy older homeowners at the expense of younger middle class workers? Liberals will take the YES side. Those who say NO will be portrayed as wanting to kick grandma out onto the street.

    • Martin Dixon says:

      Oh and Branch Davidians. Hilarious. I am stealing that.

    • Dink Winkerson says:

      Pedant, agree, Poilievre platform in my opinion is solid but unfortunately the Boomers and Cotton Tops with little to lose vote as unfortunately the ones who suffer for some reason do not. IMHO.

    • Curious V says:

      Poilievre is too much for the electorate, it’s that simple. Canadians are centrist and Poilievre is way out in right field – out there and it’s not gonna attract enough votes to win – if you want to win an election you need somebody more moderate than him – if I were a conservative I’d want him gone after this election.

    • Pedant,

      The rich and near-rich of a certain age don’t vote on principles. Don’t make me laugh. They vote solely based on their narrow, entitled self-interest. These people want their standard of living to soar while everyone else gets to go to hell in an economic handbasket. It’s that simple: entitled assholes supporting entitles assholes—a perfect fit. What else is new?

  6. Martin Dixon says:

    Or that the Liberals would literally hope for and game out a Trump win. To be fair, I suppose we should have all known they would want to keep power that badly.
