The message discipline and roll out of policy is A1 for both the CPC and the LPC, but the latter has a leadership problem: Carney’s personality and personal discipline is that of an adolescent. When he doesn’t get his way or is placed in an uncomfortable position that all politicians eventually have to traverse, he lectures or explodes in response. Certainly not the temperament of someone qualified and prepared on Day One to serve as prime minister.
I don’t agree with that tactic, which goes all the way back to Harper. It’s stupid for one thing. All it does is make needless enemies in the PPG. You can still focus primarily on local and regional media without making such a bonehead play but hey, Pierre seemingly likes to work against himself and his party’s interests. What can I say…
Don’t understand Conservative partisans who are *raising* expectations of Poilievre by saying he’ll dominate the debates. Why would they do that? The objective is to lower expectations and then surpass them.
Remember the 2019 english debate moderated by 5 left-wing women, four of them white? A cheering squad for Trudeau and a delightful example of what the CBC considers diverse.
Come on, get serious. Pierre has been in the House since the last ice age. In his case, it isn’t credible to lower expectations and then surpass them. Everyone who is even remotely sentient already knows that he will wipe the floor with at least Carney, Mr. No Experience. But most voters are already so locked in, so it’ll be difficult to change the campaign dynamic.
Meanwhile, all you said about the so-called unbiased 2019 English-language debate is TRUE.
Warren,

And the conservatives banned the media from their campaign bus/plane – they just shut out the media
Curious,

When Mr. Carney, a terrible campaigner, gets tired of tough questions, he suspends his campaign. He’s not a leader.

Pedant,

Carney is going to kick Pierre’s and the Blocs ass in the French debates. Now where did I put my bong down?
