Election night

It’s 11:15pm in Israel and I’m not staying up until 4:30am to comment on the results. Sorry. You can get my scintillating commentary in the morning.

However, some folks are gonna owe me a lot of money – because I bet them, long ago, that Poilievre was gonna lose.

Night.

  1. Warren,

Now you’ve got me curious: lose against Trudeau, the new unspecified leader, or Carney, or all three?

  2. Curious V says:

Everybody I talked to today said they voted liberal. Why? Because Carney is an economics whiz, and Poilievre is a shit-posting jerk. They all said Poilievre is a nasty Jerk. One friend who usually votes NDP told me he also voted Liberal, afraid Poilievre would win if he voted NDP.

Watching the results and it’s looking closer than I thought it would be – pretty early though

  4. Warren,

I hope Pierre will stay on: the national seat count is thanks to him and the same thing for gains in Ontario. It is also a repudiation of those who chose to act like traitors. Caucus needs to line up behind the leader.

    • Curious V says:

Where’s he gonna run since he lost his seat? You think he’ll move back to Alberta ?

      • Douglas+W says:

        Ronald,
Me too: hope Double P stays on, as I suspect he will.
Carney is going to survive for at least another year because the NDP has no choice but prop up the Libs.
After all, the New Democrats will have to find a new leader, and it has a huge debt to pay down.
It’s going to be fun, watching Carney get roasted in Question Period, presuming of course that he’ll bother showing up most days.
He may choose to duck out often, justified like the other guy (JT) before him

    • Gilbert says:

Ronald, What happened with Quebec? With a name like Pierre Poilievre, better French than Mark Carney’s, a wife from Montreal, a son who speaks only French, and time spent in Saguenay, why did they give their support to a banker who skipped the first French language debate? Were they that scared of Donald Trunp?

  5. Curious,

We can byelection him in our safest seat in Ontario. These things can be arranged.

    • Gord says:

What does he have to offer an MP who gives up their seat and maybe their pension?

At least Don Getty and Christy Clark won the election even if they lost their own seats.

  6. Gilbert says:

I’m surprised Pierre lost his seat. Maybe those in the private sector feared job losses. Anyway, Pierre isn’t going anywhere.

    • Martin Dixon says:

No. The people most worried about losing their jobs because of the tariffs are in SW Ontario and it went almost 100 per cent blue. Among other reasons, Pierre lost his seat because the PUBLIC SECTOR were afraid of losing their jobs.
