Another four years of crooked, hopeless political party?
Watch Western separatism explode.
Expect the mainstream media and the Boomers to immediately downplay the Trump threat 5 minutes after the Liberals win. The focus will turn to Carney’s impending bailout of wealthy homeowners and real estate speculators on the backs of young workers. You know it’s coming. I’ve been warning Canadians under 50 to acquire alternate passports of permanent residency elsewhere through whatever means necessary, as a backup.
Of course. Was on a call today with some baby boomers and they were complaining about how soft the real estate market was.
What exactly do you mean by this? Anyone with a mortgage worth more than the market value of their house will apply for some special multi-year tax credit? I don’t get it. Please explain how this works. Also, the baby boomers’ mortgages are paid off. So… the government will pick an arbitrary time that the market was at it’s highest and then you get a tax credit for the difference between that and your current value? Unless you were just spouting hyperbole…
I think you fail to imagine the creative solutions the Liberals can invent to rescue Boomer home equity. The fact that most Boomers no longer have a mortgage is irrelevant. Rescuing mortgage borrowers entails a rescue of the entire market, which then artificially preserves equity of existing owners whether they still have a mortgage or not.
During COVID, Jagmeet Singh proposed a taxpayer-funded “mortgage subsidy” for property owners. Around the same time Liberal parliamentary secretary to the Housing Minister, Adam Vaughan, stated that even a 10% correction was unacceptable and the government should not allow it to happen. Ahmed Hussen, when he was Housing Minister, stated that he doesn’t want to unduly tax what he laughably calls “mom and pop landlords”, like this is the 1950s and condos speculators are like your Aunt Betty renting a spare room to a labourer.
Here’s what the Liberals can do:
– encourage more foreign speculation in Canadian housing by continuing and entrenching the current Liberal policy of ignoring money laundering
– bring back the Liberal Covid era mortgage deferrals, which had the effect of concentrating even more wealth in the hands of the few (speculators used the increased cash flow to snap up more properties)
– raise immigration (permanent and temporary) back to 2023 levels to provide more renters to struggling landlords and bid up rents
– tax credits to homeowners, as you suggested, paid for by the income taxes of young workers
– raise CHMC thresholds and direct the OSFI to loosen borrowing standards to flood the market with more easy money; force banks to provide million dollar mortgages to foreign students
– lean on Tiff Macklem to keep interest rates as low as reasonable possible
– bail out municipalities with federal income tax revenue so that cities are not forced to raise property tax (which in Toronto and Vancouver are some of the lowest rates in North America)
– extend the principal residence capital gains tax exemption to Boomers’ cottages
I could go on, but you catch my drift. Carney will use state power to shift more tax dollars from younger to older, from renter to owner, from wage-earner to rent-seeker.
They will put policies in place(correction-continue them)to protect their values(which were already artificially inflated). The only thing worse than a rising market is a declining one.
We need to think of those Rosedale baby boomers who need to pay their landscapers. We are not heartless.
Oh absolutely. And next watch the demands for MAId to change.
When they realize how the younger generations they screwed will take their revenge.
Warren,
Maybe but far too much emphasis is placed on the daily utterances of that StupidFuckTM, and this gem only comes from his new bubblehead. We all know that Canada will NEVER become the 51st state, and secondly, if that POS wants Canada, he will have to take us by force. And military might doesn’t give a shit if it’s ClunkyTM or Pierre in power.
Trump, more chatter on Canada becoming the 51st state, means only one thing: the Conservatives are making this election a horse race, and the Liberals need all the help they can get from Agent Orange.
Once the election is in the bag for Team Carney, the debt owing to Trump will be massive — as if the Liberals truly care
Warren,
NDP and Bloc starting to slowly move.
Mainstreet: Liberals +1;
Nanos: Liberals +5.
Not over yet till the votes are cast and counted. I would bet a liberal minority with the Conservatives and Block surging back giving numerically superior numbers to control the libs. But who knows, maybe this cheap liquor is affecting my brain.
Makes you wonder if that’s Trump’s objective. Not exactly a stretch considering he already stated he wants Carney to win.
Whenever I try and game theory that my head explodes.
Pedant,
Obviously, it’s not important that DipshitTM wants Carney to win. What matters the most on Canadian planet Earth is…W-H-Y?
We need to dig that one up in the next ten days.
hmmmmm….. I wonder if some at the CBC used this White House press conference as an opportunity to support their preferred candidate with the 51st state question. Probably not. It’s just another conspiracy theory.
Ben Mulroney just asked me that on his show. I know that’s what some conservatives think, but it doesn’t allow for the possibility that the White House press secretary would come out and say the opposite. So it could’ve cut both ways
Warren,
In my book, Katie’s questions were fair.
Example number 3 million of why we should defund the CBC “news division”(and why I would last 10 seconds as a politician). At Ford’s presser today, someone named Lorenda I think, asked:
“With these changes for mining and specifically, the Ring Of Fire, this will take longer than Donald Trump is in as president, are you using his tariff threats as an excuse to do this?”
I would have just said, serious questions only, and moved on to the next reporter.
