  1. Paul says:

    Hey Carney Boomers,

Thanks a million for slamming that X beside Mark Carney’s name, you maple-syrup-slurping, lawn-bowling fossils! You’ve officially drop-kicked the hopes of every Millennial, Gen Z’er, and middle-aged schmuck into a flaming dumpster.

While you’re chilling in your mortgage-free McMansions, dreaming of 1990s Chretien vibes, Carney’s gonna crank up taxes, strangle homebuilding, and make gas so pricey we’ll all be pedaling to work on stolen bicycles. His plan—sky-high taxes, green energy investments, and immigration on steroids—is a middle finger to every Millennial and Gen Z’er drowning in rent and ramen.

Carney’s “stability” is just a comfy coffin for anyone under 50, and his policies will keep housing unaffordable, energy costs insane, and jobs scarcer than your hairline.

You and your 75% voter turnout crew have screwed us harder than a Toronto landlord. You’re chilling in your paid-off bungalows, sipping Starbucks, while middle-aged Canadians can’t afford a closet in Vancouver and young’uns are Googling “how to emigrate to Mars.”

    With zero love,
    A Screwed-Over Canadian

P.S. Tell your grandkids you’re sorry for ruining their lives. They’re at the food bank.

    • Warren says:

You are angry, but be comforted by your facility with words.

    • Paul,

This is not the time for such a comment. It comes off only as sour grapes. All it does is straighten the back and solidify Carney’s support. This type of comment is fair game, but not politically smart going into an election. It should have been posted next Tuesday, not earlier. It’s not in any way helpful to the CPC campaign. Not one bit.

    • Pedant says:

You’re not wrong, but if Carney wins a majority and voter turnout stats post-election show large numbers of under-40s couldn’t get off their behinds to go vote, they’ll really have nobody to blame but themselves.

      • Pedant,

That better not happen, given that Pierre has been their champion from Day One and way before that. Given how much this party has continually invested on their behalf, one must assume they at least have enough class to vote.

    • Curious V says:

We have to build affordable housing it really is a crisis – I feel for you but I don’t think Poilievre has the answers – he’s just effectively tapped into the frustration so many feel without offering any real solutions.

    • Derek Pearce says:

You know what? There are less boomers than there are Millenials and Gen Z’ers– maybe you should be lambasting them for NOT showing up to polls in the #’s the boomers do. The squeaky wheel gets the grease and voting in this case is squeaking. Lol and I’m a Gen Xer, left out of the conversation entirely.

      • Martin Dixon says:

Throw in civil servants and it is pretty well an insurmountable lead. They all want to keep the grift going. Why should they care about the future and when the bill comes due?

        • Derek Pearce says:

Civil servants make up only 370000 out of 40000000. Not the big swing you think it is. I’m genuinely fascinated by your obsession with housing affordability. There’s no way PP’s plan would make any difference over Carney’s. Why don’t you choo-choo- for the NDP?

          • Martin Dixon says:

            Three things.

            1. Let’s look up the definition of a civil servant and try that math again. You seem like a smart guy. I am sure you will get it. I will ignore the fact that 40 million is way too high but you have enough homework to do.

            2. in 2015, the NDP WAS my second choice. And clearly the way things have turned out(and will continue), the better one over the Liberals. So nice try.

            3. I do believe Pierre would have done things to stop the wealth shift. When I talk about the wealth shift, I regulualy use the houses and second homes of the ridiculous Toronto baby boomers as an example because it is so easy to poke fun at them and their landscapers but I am talking about assets generally. And, yes, I do focus on it because, well, I see it every day in my job. Look back at this site. I have been talking about that dirty little secret for years. And, as mentioned, if we are foolish enough to elect a fourth Liberal term, it will be very very good for both me personally and my clients! So, there is that consolation! I just did a set of returns for a reasonably bright couple who both have a practical education and are in their early thirties. They spend more than half of their income on just income taxes and rent. They will NEVER be able to buy a house if things don’t change.

  2. Warren,

Watch the Bloc take off after Tout le monde en parle tonight. Fine political strategy, booking him last.

    • Warren,

Watched Blanchet last night and let’s just say it wasn’t exactly Moses parting the Red Sea. To remain polite, he missed a golden opportunity and it was underwhelming to say the very least.

  3. You know, playing up that thing about native French-speaking leaders representing Quebec in Ottawa when neither of the other leaders have French as their first language. That will win lots of votes that might otherwise gone Liberal but now that an anglo is leading the Liberals, well…

  4. Martin Dixon says:

Our host doesn’t appear to have got the memo that Pierre is leading the party that is just in it for the rich.

  5. But back to the national CPC campaign: this is far from over. There is still a week to go, and yes, a week is a lifetime in politics. Our job is to hold fast and to oppo Carney straight into the ground. Carney will not be defeated by our words or even our actions. He, inevitably, must be defeated by his own deeds and words. There is a physical record of that and we must use it to its most devastating effect. We have a week to turn this around. It can be done. It is up to each and every one of us to do our part. This thing is still winable so get to work and bust your ass.

  6. Martin Dixon says:

So that nice fellow that was bussed into Brantford that gave his kids and grandkids the finger and found how famous you can be once the interwebs has done its thing is a part owner of a brewery.

A lot of folks are boycotting Peller because of its association with 99. Isn’t turnabout fair play? Literally asking for a friend.

  7. Martin Dixon says:

Obligatory music comment. Music great as usual especially Militarie Gun. Oh and pretty sure that knowing the name of the first drummer of the Clash gets cancelled out when you are also a fan of Charlie XCX and Taylor Swift. That you tube interview of Carney got boosted by one carnival barker that concluded he was punk rocker. Ummm…no. See above. My preferred Clash drummer is Topper if only just for this:
