Pithy

Two-word reasons why the Poilievre Conservatives will lose, in no particular order:

• Trudeau left
• Trump arrived
• Poilievre Trumpy
• Tories Trumpy
• Carney experience
• NDP collapse
• Bloc collapse
• debates irrelevant
• Tory disunity
• Grit unity
• Warren’s hair

Basically, in a nut shell – that’s it. I do have to admit I agreed with Poilievre on one subject, of course the devils in the details –
But he said he wants to get drug addicts off the street and into treatment – I’m all for that

Maybe but we sure will have fun doing it though:

And in another Tory own goal, they release their detailed economic platform AFTER a record 7 million people have ALREADY VOTED in advance polls. Dumb dumb dumb.

I’m not saying this would have turned things around necessarily, but the Tories prevented themselves from even having the opportunity for this thing to help them turn things around. What is the point of having all of these marvelous ideas if you’re going to announce them after 7 million people have already voted?

Just another example of political malpractice by the Tories in this campaign.

  4. Warren,

A minority of Tories Trumpy. They’re the STUPID ones…

You forget to add the MSM (thanks CBC and CTV). Remember, you never bite the hand that feeds you.

    • The Doctor says:

Just my 2 cents, but they need to ditch the defund the CBC thing if they want to stop alienating swing voters whom they need to form government. Especially when they go two-faced on it and claim that Radio Canada is somehow different and exempt from the axe.

They should instead have a policy plank requiring CBC News to adhere editorially to a Fairness Doctrine, mandating equal time to opposing viewpoints. I think that’s inherently fair and reasonable and most gettable Tory voters would see it that way. It addresses the main problem that Tory supporters have been complaining about, with considerable justification (i.e., the obvious editorial bias at CBC News).

      • Doc,

Smart people are for firing the national and regional TV news directors and moving from there.

Defunding the CPC is crazy, stupid, bullshit on a good day.

        • Gilbert says:

Why is defunding the CBC crazy? Can it not survive without tax dollars?

          • Gilbert,

Pierre suffers from ideological blinders on this issue. He’s obsessed with it. The trouble is that it’s a tremendous turn-off and vote killer among people who are moderates and progressives. People open to change hear him talk about this and then decide to give the CPC a pass. Issues like this are why we’re in second place instead of first. The Liberals love it when Pierre drones on about this. They’re so grateful for his help. Elections are all about addition. This nonsense is all about subtraction — losing potential votes.

      • Curious V says:

They want to defund the CBC because they aren’t Fox News

    • Derek Pearce says:

Meaning what though? I want specific instances of bias in favour of the Liberals. Please state these instances for both CBC and CTV, cuz we ain’t watching the same coverage…

      • Martin Dixon says:

I have been watching P and P every single night since well before our national nightmare started in 2015. It has not been quite as bad during this election cycle(clearly they were hedging their bets) but I watch the Newshour every night too. There is no comparison. PBS is not exactly a right wing mouthpeice but they NEVER start out with a premise like P and P used to do regularly and I am sure they will return to that once their future has been guaranteed.

        • Derek Pearce says:

Is the premise that the polls are bad for the Conservatives? That plain reportage not bias.

          • Martin Dixon says:

Huh? What are you talking about? Please repost after you sober up from the game(you admitted it).

          • Curious V says:

when it doesn’t go their way they claim bias, corruption, a fix – complete bullshit. Point out that their base is enthralled by trump and fox news and they have fits.

          • Martin Dixon says:

And that has to do with my exchange with Derek how? You are now just randomly posting nonsense on any thread.

        • Curious,

I want to lower myself as low as you are lately: Liberals all watch Russian state television, and nothing and no one can tear them away from their TV sets. Readers, how’s that for reaching Curious’ credibility level?

          • Martin Dixon says:

No Ronald, I have a better comparison for Curious and his blathering characterizations of you, me and my 90 year old dad that helps every week at Sunday mass.

The Liberal caucus is full of anti-semites(THAT is a fact). That is because the Liberal base is full of anti-semites and they need to cater to their base(THAT is how Curious sounds when he talks about the 40% of Canadians that will likely vote Conservative. .

            See what I did there.

      • Pedant says:

The entire media establishment spent a month in spit-flecked fury at Bev Oda’s $16 glass of orange juice and promptly hounded her from office.

      • Derek,

They push a highly progressive agenda (my agenda) for four or five years and then make a considerable effort to appear non-partisan after a writ is dropped. But everyone already knows that the CBC consistently leans towards the Liberals, generally and occasionally towards the NDP.
