Quote unquote

Asked if the Ford campaign might have succeeded in keeping Tory out of the race by signaling that his character was going to be attacked, Kinsella said: “Absolutely. In a race where a candidate is sniping, the one who ignores the sniping is the winner.”

If anyone can tell me what the Hell I meant, there, please drop me a line, because the more I read it, the less comprehensible it becomes.

The one who ignores the sniping retains their integrity, even if they lose the race. For hopefully a decent number of folk, that counts as a win.

Sama sort of logic as ” The proof is da proof and da proof will be proven…etc…etc “

  4. Anthony says:

The one ignoring the sniping continues by setting their own agenda. They can debunk and refute snipes, but don’t allow themselves to be bogged down in the sniper’s crap. They press forward with their own thought/ideas and attacks – they retain control of the playing field.

Your quote comes across a bit Sun Tzu-ish…. ha!

    What the hell…here it goes:

Scenario One: X attacks the integrity/character/ethics/morality of Y. X has the legitimate goods on Y.

Scenario Two: Ditto but the charges/allegations are completely bogus. Your comment fits in perfectly here. Ignore the noise. Stay above the fray and this too shall pass with the object of scorn and ridicule usually uplifted in the polls. Does this help?

yeah… I think I’ll fall back on the “never spin a spinner” rule.

What you meant to say is that “candidates shouldn’t wear red plaid shirts whist shaking hands with dinoaurs”…and “buy my book for more great pointers such as these”.

I think it was a “sticks and stones will break my bones…” as opposed to “I know you are, but what I am…” deal.

Again, a profound statement from you-the Jedi Master.

Rather unlike you, but I think you may have been promoting the Christian virtue of turning the other cheek. Or perhaps the idea that politics is not a viable career option for the thin skinned. Most likely you were reminding candidates to stay on message and not be blown off course by personal attacks. All are valid.

Hmm, if you were as hungover at the time as you seemed to intimate you were in another thread:

Maybe you were just babbling like Uncle Duke, & flashing back to a youthful experience where your anti-social instincts inadvertantly enabled you to escape being humiliated by one of those notorious Snipe Hunts: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snipe_hunt

I’m assuming you meant that if Tory had run, he would have ignored the snipes from Ford, and won. A triumph of class over really bad dressing.
