What Tim Hudak’s spokesman said about Rocco Rossi

My friend Stefan is quite the Twitterer.  It’s interesting.

  • October 3, 2010: “Rossi can’t read a simple spreadsheet. Can’t add.”
  • October 1, 2010: Rossi “resorts to outright lies in a bid to score cheap shot.”
  • September 15, 2010: Rossi’s political plan is “so unrealistic it seems more a hallucination than a workable vision.”
  • September 15, 2010: Rossi’s plans are “back-of-the-napkin electioneering bumpf.”
  • September 14, 2010: “Team Rossi continues to defend the indefensible.”
  • September 14, 2010: “Rossi’s latest gasping bid to gain attention, mired in fourth place and bordering on irrelevance.”
  • September 13, 2010: “Is Rossi running for Mayor of Toronto or Mayor of Fantasy Island?”
  • September 7, 2010: “Is politics too serious a matter to be left to career backroom political hacks and former party presidents? Oh wait…”
  • August 30, 2010: Rossi’s ideas are “Reform-inspired.”

The Internet sure is neat!

There’s a whole lot of revisionism going on. Note Hudak’s totally buddy-buddy act with Durham MPP John O’Toole, who supported John Tory in every failed bid John Tory ever made, up to and including his loss in rural Ontario. Now, they’re side-by-side on the podium, looking like a mutual admiration society. Total BFFs. GMAFB.

Maybe Rocco could apply for raccoon counting in the city of Toronto.

  3. David Pylyp says:

John Tory on his [CFRB] radio gig was talking about the fact that Politics was a blood sport and how he was concerned more about honesty and fair play than some of the tactics employed during an election.

I know that business is competitive in my field but some of the ads are brutal.

I think something happened to Rocco Rossi on the way to digging a tunnel through the Allen Expressway.

Geez, Warren! You’re the man’s best friend with the attention you’re giving him! OK, he’s a clown. You’ve got bigger fish to fry. Quit elevating him for cryin’ out loud! Forget about him, and more to the point, please let us!

I think that Rocco is still a fiscally responsible liberal. Unfortunately that species does not exist in Toronto, although there are large numbers outside the hermetically sealed cocoon of the 416.
Too bad the Liberal party that I grew up with and supported from Warren Allemand to Jean Chretien no longer exists.

Softball interviews so far. Solomon mentioned Hudak’s closeness to Harris, but Rocco bounced away. CBC radio didn’t even touch on extreme right wing nature of Ontario PC Party. He’s getting away with bland platitudes. Will somebody ask if he can sit down and find common ground with Hillier and and the Landowners?

I don’t think so, actually. Their big day has been overshadowed by Egypt and Snowmageddon.

Libs, meanwhile, are calling from all over to offer help/money to my friend Mike Colle.

By the end of this, Benedict Baldy will be planning his next Opus Dei pilgrimage in Spain. It’ll be a long one.

    Policies failing Liberals

Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff has been all but written off. A new poll on the weekend shows Canadians trust him even less than they do Bloc Leader Gilles Duceppe. Ouch.

Internally, Liberals are now wrangling over whether they should attempt an eleventh-hour non-aggression pact with the New Democrats or simply grit their teeth and head into the gale, hoping for a miracle.

Here?s what?s odd about Grit soul-searching: It never gets beyond personality. Before it was all about Stephane Dion, the awkward professor. Now, it?s all about Ignatieff, who isn?t ?connecting? with Canadians, supposedly.

Lost in this is the quite obvious fact that Canadians have never connected with Stephen Harper either. Yet polls consistently show comfort with his leadership. Could this be because of what he does, rather than who he is?

Could policy, in other words, be more important than personality?

There are measures Iggy could take on the policy front, if he truly wanted to cast himself as a new kind of Liberal, rather than a re-tread of the 1990s.
