Rush Limbaugh mocks Japanese victims

What a piece of human garbage this crypto-fascist drug addict is.  Scum of the Earth.  Truly.

    He’s a terrible golfer, too.

    • Tim says:

Is the Golf Channel by extension a crypto fascist outlet? Wasn’t there a more worthy notable needing help with their game? Or maybe they thought they could teach him some of the virtues of golf; patience, honesty etc.

  2. Ted H. says:

Ever notice how so many “conservatives” look like fat babies. Limbaugh, Rove, Del Maestro, Van Loan, Kenney, Ford, even Harper himself with his on and off sveltness.

  3. Jeff says:

Kathy Shaidle and his wife Arnie have been doing the same at their own cesspools.

  4. Warren says:

Oh, for Christ’s sake, Gord – you’ve just blown a lot of credibility with that comment. I’m surprised you’d make such a claim.

    • Robin says:

You say a lot of provocative things, Gord, and you seem to know what you’re talking about for a significant majority of the time, but here you need to be told to ‘Fuck off.’ At the time of their most vulnerable, Japan and the Japanese don’t need this and they don’t need a fat, white, over-privileged asshole from another part of the world that has not an inkling of the way of life for the Japanese, nor any respect for them, apparently, to kick them when they are down. If ever tragedy falls on you and your loved ones, I would stand against those that would ridicule you despite our differences. This is human life, not a punch-line.

      • Derek Pearce says:

So Tulk, let’s say for instance, god forbid something happened to one of Stephen Harper’s kids, and I said “Oh I hope Conservatives who spend so much time worrying about the economy would pay a little more attention to their kids,” you’d see I was perfectly being reasonable about economists and wasn’t at all attacking the PM himself during a personal crisis, right? I mean, this works both ways at all times right? Right?

    • Outsider says:

So, you’re saying environmentalists gave us the Prius? That’s how you interpret the above remark? Just a tad selective, I would say …

  5. fritz says:

“He’s not mocking the Japanese – he’s mocking environmentalists.”

^So, if I got this straight, you’re saying RL mocking Japanese disaster victims is a bad thing but because he’s only mocking Japanese disaster victims who are environmentalists that’s OK.
Gee I’m glad you cleared that up Gord. I guess that makes it all OK.

    • TDotRome says:

You know, that part where he talks about victims doing what they would normally do (recycling) and starts laughing at them.

Perhaps, Gord, you’re having a tough time grasping the obvious, eh?

  6. Barbara says:

Unfortunately, there have been many scumbags who think this is a time to make a joke – Gilbert Gottfried, 50 Cent, Family Guy writer/producer Alec Sulkin – and there’s many more. Disgusting.

This is not a left/right issue, as I’m sure the above-mentioned are more on the left. As for for the comment about Conservatives looking like fat crybabies – that’s just stupid. I can point out as many fat, crybaby Liberals. This just comes down to people being stupid and insensitive whether left or right.

    • fritz says:

Barbara, I know you are probably can’t understand this but the three low level entertainers you site (who may or may not be liberal – we don’t know) have all apologized. Rush hasn’t.
When some liberal politician or political commentator makes an insensitive remark about the Japanese disaster victims you might have an argument to make. Until then Rush Limbaugh is gold standard in offensive commentary.

Proof positive, if any is required, that there’s an “Onion” for everything:

“…I know there are a lot of people out there who are upset about some of the things I’ve been saying on my radio program lately…Many of you are probably wondering, “What would compel a human being to say things like that?” Well, here’s your answer: I am a very bad person. And, to tell you the truth, I don’t really want to be alive anymore…”

  8. Mike says:

“This just comes down to people being stupid and insensitive whether left or right.”

Perhaps it’s time that Satoshi Kanazawa of the London School of Economics and Political Science expands his study to answer the wider question–are people on the right fatter and whinier than people on the left? Kanazawa concludes those on the left are certainly smarter.

I repeat, “It doesn’t have to be true, it just has to be plausible. ” T. Flanagan

So how does that fit with someone who was not able to go to University? How does a graduate of the University of life fit into your theory?

    • TDotRome says:

Yeah, there are no right-wing schools at all…………cough, cough……BYU!…..cough, cough……….

Btw, you should probably learn that right-wing and libertarian are two different things.

  9. C.W. says:

Mr. Tulk: You clearly need remedial help interpreting basic texts and decoding speech. “Caller: ‘If these are the people that invented the Prius, have mastered public transportation, recycling, why did Mother Earth, Gaia if you will, hit them with this disaster?’… ‘He’s right,’ Limbaugh said. ‘They’ve given us the Prius. Even now, refugees are recycling their garbage.’ Here, he began to laugh, continuing, ‘and yet, Gaia levels them! Just wipes them out!’”

The “these people” Limbaugh refers to – “the people who’ve given us the Prius” are the Japanese, not American environmentalists. The “refugees” he refers to are Japanese survivors in the stricken areas. They are recycling – something which makes perfect sense, given that absolutely everything has been destroyed, and goods of all kinds – water bottles, containers, clothes, paper, and the like – might need to be re-used. You cannot spin this away. You can only lie about it, something conservatives appear to be very good at.

    • C.W. says:

A repeat, for the unbelievably dense (or deceptive) Mr. Tulk. Limbaugh: “‘Even now, refugees are recycling their garbage.’ Here, he began to laugh, continuing, ‘and yet, Gaia levels them! Just wipes them out!’”

No reference there to the reporter in either his comment or his laughter. Limbaugh’s reference – the subject of his sentence, the subject of his laughter, the subjects who have been hit with supposed retribution from “Gaia” (quote, “Gaia levels them”), are, as he says, “the refugees”, not the reporter, and not environmentalists, as you tried to pretend earlier. You’d flunk a third grade reading comprehension test. Give it up – you’re pathetic.

      • C.W. says:

No, sorry. You don’t get away with such idiocy. “Gaia levels them”, Limbaugh says. “Just wipes them out!”, Limbaugh says. He is referring to Japanese victims. Neither Diane Sawyer, nor “the rest of the enviro movements” were wiped out by the quake or tsunami. I’m happy to come back and repeat the obvious, as long as you continue to obfuscate, misdirect, lie, or demonstrate illiteracy (you pick).

      • smelter rat says:

Give it up Gord, you’re toast and you know it.

  10. Jan says:

I limit myself to only viewing short clips because I have seen what happens to the minds of people who watch them frequently. You should consider limiting your exposure, Gord.

  11. hugger says:

I have tried to listen to them, but I can’t stand them for long. Especially Limbaugh and Beck. And I see Beck as representative of Fox. Something comes to mind whenever I experience one of their dark diatribes.

    A prosecutor at the Nuremburg trials said this to one of the accused;

    “Your soul runs of puss”.

  14. Jan says:

Rush makes about as much sense as Charley Sheen. Poster boys for ‘Just Say No’. While he rants about the leftwing press complimenting the Japanese, the super hero of the Right, Rudy Guiliano was on CNN tonight praising the Japanese culture because of their post tragedy behavior i.e. the lack of looting.

  15. Patrick Deberg says:

Here is a point to consider.

Rush, Anne, Beck do not consider what they are going to say. They just say it. They care not for civility, decorumn or respect. My Irish father said that one should never speak ill of the dead. This comes from a profound respect for the dead. This understanding is lacking in the hard right. They hate you for no real reason other that disagreeing with them. They need the constant stroking of their peers to justify anything they say. This leads them to seek smaller and smaller circles of friends because after all how angry can you stay? These people feed off one another and use this anger to feed their world view. I can go to these sites for a little while and then have to do other things to decouple from the anger living there. I tapped 250 sugar maples tuesday and that calms me down. I think Gord is divided in his loyalty. However he may be losing ground with his defense tactic here.

    • Warren says:

This Irishman was taught the same thing. Speak ill of the dead, and you are going to pay for it.

    • The Other Jim says:

“This understanding is lacking in the hard right.”

That understand is lacking amongst people who hold extreme viewpoints on both ends of the political spectrum.

  16. It seems that free speech protects the ultra-insensitive and so it falls to the rest of us to pick up the pieces and move forward.

  17. gray says:

Talk about going down with the ship.

Even in some strange alternative reality where don’t you see that tirade as mocking the Japanese after a terrible tragedy, why would you defend that hypocritical druggie?

  18. HarryR says:

Come on, fellows – Rush L. wasn’t laughing at the survivors – he was laughing at the IRONY of it all. Here we have an environmentally responsible people who even in their darkest despair STILL strive to nurture Mother Earth who has dealt them such a dreadful blow. There’s the irony.
Lighten up, for heaven’s sake! Don’t let your rabid partisan pejudices blight your sense of humour. Admit it – we, all of us, at some time, have laughed at ironical situations, often at unfortunate’s expense. Irony can be humorous.

  19. patrick Deberg says:

    Harry,

I love irony as much as the next man if not more. I am in awe of a culture that sends men on a suicide mission. I am profoundly moved that there are men that will answer that call. ” Rush has no right to denigrate a whole country for his own amusement. There is PROFOUND suffering in Japan as we speak. As an Irishman I will say on this day that I have stood on the wrong side of many a lost cause due to my loyalties. Today I will stand with the country of Japan against the ” Rush. ” Harry, if you have any sense of understandind you would stand with me. Prehaps your rabid partisan pejudices will not allow you to see where you should stand……..

  20. HarryR says:

    Hello, Patrick,
I hope you had a traditionally happy St Patrick’s day!
Listen! I am as moved by the plight of the Japanese people as you or anyone would and should be and history has taught us very well that, indeed, their men will not shrink from honourable self-sacrifice for the benefit of their country. As you say – awesome. I can only hope, when tested, to be of the same mettle. But that is not the issue.
Patrick, I’m no fan of Limbaugh and his characteristic, blow-hard bombast but I still honestly don’t believe it was his intention to purposefully, as you say, “denigrate a whole country for his own amusement”. I stand by my original judgement; I believe he was commenting on the irony of the situation. And call me naive if you will; I also believe that, on reflection, off the heat of the moment, Mr K. would not have opened with his………..er…….rather powerful remarks.
I regret the use of the word “rabid” when I wrote of partisan prejudices; we are all susceptible to them and sometimes, dammit, they can really cloud our judgement. I enjoy visiting Mr K’s blog – there’s a good deal of healthy debate goes on here even though the partisan rhetoric can tend to become somewhat overheated, at times. You have apparently twigged that I second in the blue corner (a “Reformatory” – do I hear a gnashing of teeth?) but I swear that has no bearing in this instance or on my defence of Limbaugh.
I thank you for your comment.
    Rgds…………..H.

  21. Patrick Deberg says:

    Sore head this morning!

    Harry,

I have a full understanding of where one can go with the partisan loyalty. I have been there at times myself.
I expect everyone to defend their belief with passion. I just hate petty mean spirited attacks. It serves no one. At one point in time I was quite enamoured with the reform party and thought the original crew were very decent people.
I was actually going to vote for Preston M. He seemed to really grow as a spokesman for the west. Unfortunatly he hit that leadership review where PMSH torpedoed him. And thus did my loyalty change. I’ll do my part and good luck with yours!!

  22. Patrick Deberg says:

As for WK’s statements. I listen not because he is partisan but that when the facts change he will not defend blindly the error pointed out. As has been said before, you are entitled to your own opinions but not your own facts. W seems to know this. There is a big difference to be over the top all the time as opposed to partisam on occasion. Good day to you sir.

  23. HarryR says:

Only Limbaugh himself knows his intention as a fact. The rest of us can only joust with our opinions – be they humble or otherwise.

  24. Lee Hill says:

Terry Southern called him “Rush Lamebrain” and Michael O’Donoghue would have said RL was “garbage wrapped in skin”. But let us not diminish the suffering of the Japanese or take away from the heroism that they have displaced in the face of the past week’s events by dwelling on his vapour-like hissing. Actions speak louder than words.
