The fog of Toronto

Tweeted this foggy morn by Sun man Don Peat. Wonderful.

The fog comes on little cat feet.
It sits looking over harbor and city on silent haunches and then moves on.

Too bad for Toronto that the Fords don’t do likewise.

The Fords come on bluster and false bravado.
They shit over the harbour and city from flaccid buttocks for one term.

somewhat romantic, but how about eliot’s comparison of evening to ‘a patient etherized upon a table?’

such darkness seems more fitting somehow given the current political climate

    Good Morning Mr. Kinsella:

You will most likely know from my past posts, i am a Conservatives supporter. Now, I’m really not trying to be a smartass when I ask this:

Who else do the Liberals have?

Do you want Dalton McGuinty to move to the Federal Liberals to try to become the leader? He’s the second least popular Premier in Canada behind Jean Charest.

David McGuinty? He seems to be to Dalton what Roger Clinton was to Bill.

Justin Trudeau? More often than not, when he opens his mouth he firmly plants one of his feet in there.

Ralph Goodale? Judy Sgro? Carolyn Bennett? Scott Brison? The son of former GG Romeo LeBlanc who’s name escapes me at the moment? Do they risk parachuting another person out of academia into the leadership roll?

If the install Rae as leader, that will give the other parties plenty of ammunition against him and the party. After all, when he took over as Interm leader, he swore up and down he had no interest in becoming the full time leader. He (supposedly) even signed an agreement indicating he would not seek the full time roll. That would just be more proof the Liberals never keep their word. They can’t be trusted to do anything they say they will do.

And as for the Conservatives not going after the NDP, I swear I read an article on Yahoo News that indicated they had several ads prepared in anticipation of a Mulcair win. However, I can’t seem to find the article now.

While I sit on my sailboat
    Waiting for the wind

I hated the fog when I had my sailboat-it was damp and dead, I still hate it.
Was at the cottage/cabin/lakehouse deal on the weekend. Ice still covered the lake and the fog was layered-good for photo’s but I still sat waiting for the wind.

    Also forgot to mention:

During Rae’s several trips into the riding of Toronto – Danforth in the lead up to last nights byelection, did anyone else notice the media has stopped refering to Rae as the “interm” leader?

They just say Liberal leader Bob Rae.

Even the media doesn’t belive Rae’s claim of not wanting the job full time.

And speaking og the byelection, why did the Liberals decide to waste valuable resources on a riding the had ZERO chance of winning? People are saying “Oh, look how well the Liberals did. The increased their vote percentage by over 10 points.”

    Well:

    1) They still finished a distant second.

    2) Over 16,000 FEWER people voted in the byelection than the May General Election.

    3) THe LIberals ACTUAL vote total went up by a mere 743 votes from what the Liberal candidate got in May.

The Conservatives and Greens knew the had no shot and did the smart thing. They didn’t waste their time or resources trying to win it.

Okay, so a month or so ago, the Conservatives were saying this riding was the Liberals to lose. Now the argument that it was a waste to even try. Damned if you do, damned if you don’t situation.

Here’s another thing to consider. Last night, with both parties not putting much effort in this face, the Greens fell 1.76 points or 27%, and the Conservatives fell 8.92 points or 62%. One party got more bang for their non-buck than the other.
