Globe and Mail announces Comical Ali as new editor-in-chief (updated)

There’s no other way to explain their reliance on “internal” polling by John Tory, about John Tory. Nate Silver in the New York Times on such “polls,” here.

Background on the sterling company in question here and here and here and here and here and, of course, here. Way to go, Globe! You haven’t hurt your credibility, at all!

UPDATE: And here’s what the governing body for Canadian pollsters says about the Globe and Mail’s single source: “The actions of Campaign Research have likely caused the Canadian public to lose confidence in marketing research and have tarnished the image of the marketing research profession.”

I can understand why John Tory’s desperate, pathetic, flip-flopping’ campaign would be interested in seeing the Globe regurgitate the crap of the guy who (a) gave us Rob Ford (b) has achieved past distinction, inter alia, for being criminally charged for making death threats.  But how, pray tell, is it in the Globe’s interest to diminish their reputation in this way?

You cannot tarnish a rusted blade – Lieutenant Worf

I’m starting to think that the way Tory’s campaign is going, it was Rob Ford who made Nicky K. look good, not the other way around.

I’ve been reading the Mop and Pail since Richard Needham occupied space on the editorial pages and cringe at the pervasiveness of its decline. I expect far more from the reporter -Robyn Doolittle needed to have done more to explain the limitations of a small sample (750) particularly when spitting out results in the suburbs. As for Kouvalis, with whom I share no policy space, well played, sir. Everything you touch is crap, but it is crap that people want to buy.

Same paper that endorsed Hudak — apparently under pressure from on high.

speaking of pressure from on high. how come my ‘turnover” tory comment of the week was only good for one day. my fifteen minutes of Kinsella fame was reduced to 3. me and my merry band of Warrenistas are not amused 🙂

        Warrenistas. I like that.

What happened? Good question. Everything posted after your fun comment was pushed down the page – that is, your comment remained on top, even above newer posts. I like you very much, but not that much. When we couldn’t fix the time stamp issue, we whacked it. Sorry.

Yes, I haven’t been able to look at the Globe and Mail the same way after that incident. It’s like everything they say doesn’t seem true anymore.

Some people fail upwards; Mr T is a fitting example.
