At Daisy, we’re not above exploiting GOP tragedy for commercial gain

Leaving aside the devastating discovery of plagiarism, this speech was a woeful production – insipid and unrevealing of anything that might humanize the RNC candidate in any way. How Ms Trump was permitted to proceed with this is beyond me.

If you guys don’t want him elected you have to stop playing his game. You have to stop hammering at people that he is anti-establishment, that is what he wants. Call him stupid all you want but don’t underestimate him and what he is doing. I, like all conservatives, get down on my knees and pray for a third-party candidate to parachute in that bridges the massive divide of these two absolutely polarizing candidates. America, the greatest democratic experiment in history, is broken. And that’s not good for any of us.

She got pranked pretty hard. Apparently there was even a Rick Roll in there somewhere. I’m sure Trump yelled “you’re fired” to someone last night. Oh those crazy Internet generation kids and their zany pranks. Good times, good times…

  4. Ridiculosity says:

Melania Trump did not “borrow heavily” from Michelle Obama’s speech.

Some soon-to-be-unemployed campaign speechwriter did. Obviously.

I doubt that Mrs. Trump could write a grocery list.

And therefore? Maybe I should not presume as to your point. It was probably just a stereotype being misapplied.

The kids over at reddit (gawd, I feel old when using that phrase) have had a bit of fun with Melania’s speech.

A few of her words set to a Rick Astley song…fun and short. Goes well with the MelaniaTrumpquotes hasttag 🙂 which have given me a few LOLs today.

    I’m not even remotely surprised.

Nothing about the Trump family is original; everything about them is a cliche rip-off of what you’d expect the tackiest billionaires to behave like. I wouldn’t be surprised if Donald had a Scrooge McDuck-like money vault in which he takes daily dive. I mean, he’s already got Saddam Hussein’s dining set.

But lets be real about the speech:

    A) Either Melania is so incredibly stupid (of which there is very little doubt) that she doesn’t understand how sourcing works and has never written anything longer than her signature on a few nude portraits of herself, thus she has no clue how to write something without completely copy-and-pasting it out of Wikipedia, or;

    B) The Trumps hired the dumbest fucks possible for there speechwriters who also know nothing about citing sources or plagiarism.

    Both are very much possible.

However, lets just acknowledge that Melania and the Trump team have already explicitly claimed that Melania solely wrote the speech herself and had no help. If that is the case, then her grade 9 writing skills are depressing –but more importantly, Trump’s advisors are equally as idiotic for not bothering to cross-reference her speech with other sources.

In the end, Melania and her husband look just as stupid as we’ve all known them to be and some poor staffer is going to get fired as a sacrificial lamb because Donald Trump and his intellectually vacant family doesn’t know how to run a campaign.

Either way, good times for the GOP.

I thought her speech, plagiarized or not, rather a non event. It wasn’t inspiring, nor informative and most important of all and using a term Warren uses, she failed to construct the notion or idea or declare a testament that Trump is a ‘hell of a guy”.

Her speech bordered the ordinary. It wasn’t compelling. It touched on the usual predictable political paradigms. But, given it was her first incursion into the toxic world of politics, I think she held up well and appeared to be ‘that girl next store’, or America’s Sweetheart.

If her speech was truly intentionally or unintentionally plagiarized , then it shows serious amateurism and/or a campaign full of people, who have a function with little form or substance.

I think it is worth repeating, Mrs. Trump’s speech failed to show or convince me that Mr. Trump is a hell-of-a-guy.

I guess in the final analysis, the people are always right-right?

By the way, rumour has it that Donald will include the following in his speech at the GOP Convention…” a little song, a little dance, a little seltzer down your pants”. It will be near the end and directed at Clinton. Listen for it.

    Warren,

Sometimes even Svengali talents like Daisy’s cannot help the intellectually challenged.

Let it go, Warren, let it go.

  9. Ronald O'Dowd says:

    Warren,

Yeah, apparently Trump isn’t a politician. Who knew.

  10. patrick says:

Hilarious! I’m glancing at this blog and there is Warren on the national telling us that Trump is a car crash and that once people have had a good look no one will vote for him. Ironically, with all this stuff about repeated story lines, Warren said pretty much the same thing about that other car crash Ford in 2010.

    We’re fucking doomed.

There are, or rather WERE some very close similarities between Ford Nation and whatever the Trump tools call themselves. But Ford skated around the dog whistles, and remained not-quite-a-racist-and-bigot. Ford retained deniability, even if it was not very plausible. Trump has firmly and un-equivocably removed that fig leaf, and as a consequence has narrowed his field of supporters rather than broadened it. In short, Ford got a LOT of bigots out to vote for the first time in their lives. He also roped in the non-racist Conservative voters. Trump went too far in roping in the bigots, and forgot the majority needs to be able to hold their noses and vote for him. I really do not see how he can roll back the entirety of his campaign to date to win back actual Republican voters who are not angry, white, and happily bigoted. Actually, I am still not convinced that Trump is doing anything other than securing a fortune of untold $ Billions from stoopid worshipful racists. What he is doing is absolutely PERFECT for building a loyal following of crusaders who only need to LOSE to become buds for life, shoulder to shoulder in the holy cause. These morons will be sending in 5 proofs of purchase and a money order for ‘shipping and handling’ until the cows come home.

Funny how many guys on here seem to think that Melania is, without a doubt, as dumb as a stump. Because she is married to Trump and is beautiful? Is it because she speaks ( apparently 6 languages?) in a rough accent? I must be getting wiser with age or something. I actually get it that is insulting to women everywhere. Guess what? I married a beautiful woman. And she is a lot fucking smarter than some of the commenters on here. But she also has a thick Eastern European accent, and is a really crappy public speaker. I would LOVE to see her responding to such comments directed at her. Even better if my two daughters were there too. It would be a slaughter.
