Holy. Shit. (Literally.)

Here.

The draft order seeks to create wholesale exemptions for people and organizations who claim religious or moral objections to same-sex marriage, premarital sex, abortion, and trans identity, and it seeks to curtail women’s access to contraception and abortion through the Affordable Care Act. The White House did not respond to requests for comment, but when asked Monday about whether a religious freedom executive order was in the works, White House spokesman Sean Spicer told reporters, “I’m not getting ahead of the executive orders that we may or may not issue. There is a lot of executive orders, a lot of things that the president has talked about and will continue to fulfill, but we have nothing on that front now.”

Language in the draft document specifically protects the tax-exempt status of any organization that “believes, speaks, or acts (or declines to act) in accordance with the belief that marriage is or should be recognized as the union of one man and one woman, sexual relations are properly reserved for such a marriage, male and female and their equivalents refer to an individual’s immutable biological sex as objectively determined by anatomy, physiology, or genetics at or before birth, and that human life begins at conception and merits protection at all stages of life.”

Two things.

One, get ready for property values in Canada to go way up – because a whole lot of Americans are going to be relocating up here.

Two: the United States of America is well and truly dead. It’s done.

    Slow down a bit here:

Okay, ban Muslims from 7 countries

    …and then, a religious freedom order that…

I’m trying to keep up. I’m trying.

    Yup, it’s a coup.

Lots of people have predicted the demise of the USA over the years and my experience is you bet against that. These are old people making this shit up. They’ll run out of gas soon enough. They assume they are creating enough chaos to upend everything.
But the world is bigger and more complicated since the last time someone ran with this playbook. Chin up. We’re going to be alright.

So the way I read this the US will have to abolish the death penalty and Trump won’t be able to shop at half the stores in the Heartland because he’s had plenty of sex outside marriage. Not likely to get signed.

On the other hand if signed it will lead to just the sort of social unrest Bannon wants to foment so they can start busting heads and consolidate power.

More evidence it’s time to buy a truckload of canned goods and a crossbow and head for the bush.

.. it woulld be very useful to have a practical example of such an entity.. within a sample scenario.. perhaps evev better a current entity that will now be tax exempt & an example of what she/he/it are engaged in..

  6. I am concerned about the national security situation for Canada as America transforms into a totalitarian regime. We are caught, literally, between two allies now – Trump’s America and Putin’s Russia. I mean, hell, why shouldn’t Trump have designs on Canada now? Or Russia for that matter?

Hey, Russia has upgraded their Arctic fleet and doubled the size of their Arctic armed forces. They now have nearly 80 warships aimed straight at Canada’s Arctic Archipelago. If you look at Russias Presidential website, there is a section translated into English outlining the Arctic Security Council’s role. Russia has never hidden their intent to have our Arctic Islands, that is the primary reason they purchased Mistral assault ships, (thanks France) and they have spent tens of $billions preparing for the job over the past 24 months.

Um. To be sure, it was long ago, but I recall from my Grade 13 American History class that there’s s’posed to be some kinda “checks and balances” thing down there?

I was surprised in 2001 and on the way that Congress lay down for the executive down there. A couple of representatives and senators asked the right question and urged that the executive not be given run-away powers, but most just allowed the executive power grab to happen. Obama set up a lot of centralization of power actions …and now, the new regime inherits all that.
