Can you step closer, and speak into my espresso machine?

Quote:

Senior White House adviser Kellyanne Conway is suggesting that alleged government surveillance of Donald Trump during his campaign may have gone beyond the president’s accusation that former President Barack Obama had his phones tapped.

Conway tells New Jersey’s Bergen County Record that “there are many ways to surveil each other.” She says “you can surveil someone through their phones, certainly through their television sets — any number of ways.”

Conway went on to say that the monitoring could be done with “microwaves that turn into cameras,” adding: “We know this is a fact of modern life.”

Team Trump are all certifiably insane, of course. That’s a given. But this latest grievously self-inflicted wound cries out for comedic interpretation.  Be sure to share yours in comments!

I guess The Guardian is insane too. I knew it…I just knew it.

Since Trump supporters get their “news” from Infowars and Breitbart, they probably believe it.

    This woman is batshit crazy.

I don’t understand why media outlets insist on giving her more airtime and inviting her back on their shows.

Every second she spends spewing her idiocy on television is the equivalent of microwaving your brain for 10 minutes. She contributes nothing in the way of intelligent discussions or even a cogent defence of Trump’s disjointed logic.

What is puzzling is that Wikipedia tells us that “Conway received her Bachelor of Arts degree magna cum laude in political science from Trinity College, Washington, D.C. (now Trinity Washington University), where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.[15] She then earned a Juris Doctor with honors from the George Washington University Law School in 1992.[16] She served as a judicial clerk for Judge Richard A. Levie of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia after graduation.[17][18]”. Why does she sound so vapid, as there is no one home?

      • Charlie says:

Its a conscious effort on her part.

She sounds vapid because she is trying her best to be as vapid and evasive as possible. Its an insidious strategy meant to bait and defend against her adversaries so she can come out looking like a victim of condescension.

She’s not “stupid”; she’s just a sinister sociopath.

To be perceived as fair, or at least try not to lose Republican viewership, the media wants to present both sides of every story, even if one side is a total nutcase/president.

      • Charlie says:

That is exactly the approach that propelled Donald Trump and his legion of sycophants into relevancy.

The media tries way to hard to “balance the discussion” but end up equating insane illogical lies with political spin within the realm of reality.

Joe Scarborough did the right thing by not putting up with that sort of BS anymore. Political debate is perfectly fine, but if you reject factuality and refuse to address a topic directly, then you’re wasting airtime on someone pumping up their own public profile.

During the nomination races I saw her once in a while advocating for Trump. She struck me as quite intelligent and well spoken, but, often, she was defending ‘trumpisms’ that seemed bizarre to me. That she hung in there and said what she said looked like a very tough job to me.

Could Conway’s repeated use of the rarely used word ‘surveil’ be dog whistle for ‘hijab’?

Only your toaster oven knows for sure and it was made in Mexico so you’re going to have to pay a 30% tariff before you get an answer.

Too easy! This is a Mr. Bean sketch, him getting into all kinds of tangles with other things in the kitchen while he tries to avoid being in the line of sight of the microwave.

  7. merrill smith says:

Anyone here think Trump could even find his way to a kitchen and if he did, could identify the various appliances? Doesn’t he have minions for that stuff?

  8. Jt says:

The cone of silence would solve that problem.

Progressives shouldn’t be defending the surveillance state. Trump is a fascist but so are the guys running most of the US intelligence agencies. We know the NSA broke the law in its mass surveillance efforts. We know Clapper lied about doing so to Congress. These guys aren’t our friends. Progressives look like loons taking up an enemy of our enemy is our friend stance..
